I made a much more powerful (borderline blinding) LED panel here:

but it requires a bunch of tools, wiring, and some basic carpentry. If you’re up to the challenge, it’s quite rewarding.

BRILLIANT! Thank you for posting this. I'm wanting to install a faux window in my windowless basement apt. This LED panel will really bring the "sunshine" in.
Very interesting light panel. Perfect for a person who likes to build their own equipment for video production. Many thanks Tom for the video.
This was amazing Tommy!! definitely do more bids like this. 🤘🏾🙂👍🏾
Thanks Tommy. Great to the point and perfect for what I need to do.

COOL GUY - NICE AND POLITE AND TO THE POINT - WELL DONE BRO!

Tommy how would i build a 800watt led panel ??
Tommy that was brilliant (no pun intended). Thank you so much. Have you any idea if the light output would be sufficient for a SAD lamp?

***** i.imgur.com/kLCnCqr.png Still have to cut the sides for its enclosure and then use plexi glass cover, and will probably frost it. Still debating on its power supply, either will keep as is and use power from the wall or will use my 12vDC batteries. Those would be better for electricity costs since it would be free, but idk. Well see... ;D

R u a wizard?
What is the light quality like (e.g. color rendering index, color cast, etc.)?
Thanks very much for this. Very ingenious and idiot-proof for those of us (like me) who would probably have some kind of accident if I got into using saws and soldering and the like. I have subscribed and would gladly have given you two thumbs up instead of one if I could. Keep those videos coming. Would love to see more like this because I am slowly working towards doing home/studio - based youtube videos. It would interesting to hear what equipment you are using - camera, lights, screen capture and/or editing software and so on.
Great Video! Just wondering, is that a Tesla coil you have in the backround on your desk?

I can't find the led tubes?
I noticed flickering on the video when the dim was low

only a voltage dimmer would be flicker free. this unit dims by cycling the light hence the flicker

+akshay kalkeri yes. There's already one on my channel. :)
Can this be hooked up to a battery? Or powered from a cigarette lighter or USB port inside a car?
@TommyCallaway

If you make a battery that puts out the same voltage as the included power supply, it shouldn't be too hard. Same dealio with the car power, I doubt it's more than 12 volts so you should be able to.

The color temperature also does not look any good. Rather go with higher quality led strips
if it flickers, then it would not be good for photography using a cell phone. Stationary weak black bands will show up on a white board. no problems with a regular camera though.
Big Tom Callaway's son?
cheap and easy
CRI rating of the lights? Your skin tone seems to have a bit of green spike going on. Did you use the lights you built to light the video? Ah...just looked it up from your link. CRI is greater/equivalent to 80...not great for video really.

+Gerrick Winston on the big panel I put together I used cheap leds from china with a low CRI, I plan on replacing those at some point. I believe I used it in this video during the first half. Also I didn't set my white balance properly (I only recently learned how to do that for my videos during shooting. Lol)
Too much pwm

I don't consider scissors to be a tool. It's a common household object.

Honestly if you can’t afford a soldering iron (only $3 to 7) you don’t need to be spending money on lights....
