5-MINUTE 2019 HONDA MONKEY MOD! - Quick Release Seat Bolts

For this installment of our 2019 Honda Monkey Build, I install a set of MNNTHBX Quick Release Seat Caps/Bolts! This sub 5-minute install (including opening the box) will allow you to remove your set while on the road, with NO TOOLS! Non-ABS models have a nice storage compartment under the seat, so these caps allow you to use your ignition key to remove the caps and remove your seat for quick access to the compartment. As a side benefit, they clean up the look of the frame by plugging the hole where the seat mount bolts are recessed into, so there's really no reason why this isn't a worthwhile mod for ANY 2019 Honda Monkey!

how are these quick release? you still have to use something to undo them, and if you don't do them up tight in first place they are liable to vibrate loose

I’m jealous of the storage 😕 I had a non-ABS ordered originally but grabbed the ABS as it was the first available.

The battery and a small storage space are beneath the seat. There is no way to access it without removing two bolts, a pretty big oversight on their part.

Good point, and I’ll cover this in a new video. On the ABS models, it contains the valves for it and there’s not much room.

John Adamczyk - Perhaps Honda expects to produce and sell more ABS models, hence the oversight of making access easier. Mine is non ABS, and it’s actually a usable space. Not huge but plenty for a pair of gloves, a small rain shell, etc.

Those are great seat attachments, but they've gone up to $39 now and they want $10 shipping for something that costs less than $4 to ship first class (which arrives just as fast as Priority mail). I said, "nah". I'll make my own for nothing.

Would love these but shipping is the same cost as the caps! Crazy

Are you not in the US? Unfortunately that would be the case if not. I’m running into the same dilemma with Trail 125 upgrades from Japan

I have the abs model, the left side box is enough for gloves and a cover so I don't see the point. And why would you want to risk snapping your key ?

For me it was more to finish the look of the bike with a flush plug for the hole there, but if I rode this bike daily, I’d want the ability to remove the seat easily. Not worried about snapping a key either, cause you essentially can install it with the key and control the torque. Not gonna snap if you don’t make it too right!

Love the Yoshi pipe! Did you alter the airbox at all and do have some form of a fuel controller/Power Commander? Nice mod.

I haven’t done supporting mods such as the airbox or reprograms yet. I’m waiting for an intake to come out of the MNTHBX camp to do that, and I’m not sure I wanna do a reprogram based on how well this bike runs and how reliable it is. The pipe provided gains for sure, and with an intake, it should be even better.

@@John5XR You are right. I figured by removing the snorkel's and the metal mesh screen in the stock air box along with a k&n filter would be a nice upgrade on the intake side, that along with the Yoshi pipe I figure would require some new mapping. The Dynojet power commander from what I understand just plugs in line with the stock computer and can be removed at anytime and you are right back to stock mapping. I'll be interested to see if anyone has tried this. Keep us posted!
