She was in a way a bizarro peach. Peach was originally really quiet and humble while loving to play tricks on people. However, MP3 Daisy was super bold and proud of her beauty while going headfirst with no strategy. An example is their signature items in the first few Mario parties, where Peach uses the plunder chest to steal items and Daisy uses the phone to buy a magic lamp and go straight for the star space

Actually, Luigi's cautious and timid nature originated in the various DIC produced Mario cartoons from the late 80's and early 90's. Nintendo liked the way he was depicted in those, so they simply adapted the personality into the games. Those same DIC cartoons are also where Toad's raspy voice first came from.

Just in case anyone didn't know, Birdo is definitely female now (confirmed by Nintendo) and isn't the only trans Nintendo character. If you've ever played paper Mario 2 and wondered why Vivians sisters hated her and didn't wanna call her their sister until the end it's because in the original Japanese version she is trans (male to female) but because it was "controversial" in the US it was changed by translators, cutting out a small piece of the story.

About Viviana I won't say anything by now... But yes, Birdo is female, since Super Mario All Stars they decided make her purely female, and I am not saying this just because I watched videos from youtubers, that would be poor... I had to search even different manuals, etc. It was hard but yes, Birdo, in the Mario universe, is purely female. Except in Doki Doki Panic! And the description of Super Mario USA is just an error of cordination, remember that gringos just traslated the original manual from Doki Doki Panic! with no more.

I feel like a lot of younger siblings prefer Luigi to Mario because their older siblings always claimed Mario when they'd play the old Super Mario Bros games.

Donkey Kong has definitely changed over the years. The biggest change can be told apart from DK64 and SSBB, where in the first game, he had a more human walk cycle, a voice, and later on, he ran on four legs, and was basically very much like a real monkey instead. I actually enjoy his character in DK64 the most, I honestly believe he's the best version of himself there.

I can't believe Nintendo has a canon trans character.

Two things I'd like to point out... 1. Daisy > Peach. Last time Bowser tried going after Daisy? She slapped him so hard he flew across the horizon. Compare that to Peach who should probably consider getting her mail forwarded to his castle and I think we know who best girl is. 2. Are we not going to address Pauline's transformation from dime-a-dozen damsel in distress to mayor of New Donk City city AND an excellent jazz-singer to boot?
