This should be required viewing for those setting out on their musical journey, because getting it wrong will cost time, money and doubt. You don’t want your musical career to be over because you got stuck on the first boss level and gave up.

i think buying actual advanced hardware like this should only be once you are actually a professional. If you're starting out I think a DAW is more than enough, and can do pretty much all of these things digitally. This hardware only makes sense if you are really particular about how you want things to sound or just want the cool feel of turning physical knobs and such.

Nice one.. Refreshing to come back to your channel and see you've dropped the daft 'lad' persona. Far, far better to see a clear, focused presentation like this.

One of my biggest lifesavers have been those velcro ties when playing live. Some venues you have to stop cables from laying where people can kick them out. So I've had to tie them to the upper light rackings at particularly tight venues with wrecked ppl getting close to the set. I used to take insulation tape previously, but since swapping to velcro straps it's just so much easier if I need to move anything and doesn't leave residues. And you're right, you never know what you may need at some of these venues. I've had to take all my gear and send it through to a 3.5mm input at a village hall before lol. It's a little unnerving thinking that everything is going through such a small cable that could cut out if you moved it, but you getting paid you have to deliver.

Very grateful to see this video, it answered all my questions on how to upgrade production and dj to replace my old Audio 10 from NI that has given me a lot of problems, and the traktor as my mixer has midi stays on as a controller and start playing some good electronic music, thank you very much

Awesome video, I’m new to this and highly motivated. I recently bought a boss rc 505, a good microphone, studio monitors and a MacBook Pro. My question is : with all your gear where should a boss rc505 fit in and how would you connect it and why? I do think that sound quality is main priority and I rather invest in great gear but there is SO much to consider and take in :-D but it’s also a whole LOT of FUN. Great video Thanks man!!

Multiplier is a ABLETON PRO. The ultimate set up for (Ableton) users, producers, DJ's even Video productionists. Steinberg get a round of applause. The connectability with the RC and the XONE-23 inparticular is an advanced set up, the links are seamless.

I'm using more of a hybrid system. Tldr: I use a mixture of dj techniques, live looping, and scene launching. It's super fun! I route maschine to ableton and also use it to launch scenes within the maschine software and such. On top of that, I have a midi keyboard routed to ableton so I can improvise. I have A and B audio tracks in ableton so I can record from my maschine and then cue in the next song from my maschine. Mostly, I've been trying to do most of the performance on my maschine by using macros and changing parameters. But I still use ableton effects to transition between songs. Much like a DJ.

Just came across this great video after what felt like forever in trying to find an answer for computer specs. Hopefully you can help me out. I plan to do hybrid live sets with my 4 channel controller Kontrol S4 (loading Traktor on MBP) and then using two midi controllers for live loops and samples on Ableton Live, while using an audio interface to export the audio from my MBP? If I were to get the new MBP 14”, do you believe that a 10-Core CPU/14-Core GPU, 16gb (is 32gb overkill?), and a 1tb ssd enough to run Traktor AND Ableton Live?

Hello multiplier, I would like to ask you how can i get out the best cable connections on my gear. I am frustrate because my dilema of cabling connections is not resolved. I tried for weeks (not days) to swap cables around and still today I have not got the result I want. I would appriciate if you can dedicate your time for my question. If yes , please let me know so I can write more in details. Thank you and keep up the great job your doing o your channel.

Hi, Question concerning playing live. I am in possession of an Ableton push 1 and a Traktor Kontrol S4. I am think about using the Traktor Kontrol S4 as my audio interface when it comes to the sounds that are created in Ableton. How can I set this up? Been searching for a solution for a long time now but haven't found the option yet. Thanks in advance for your response!

This is great. Maybe you can help us? Im playing blues and my wife wants a device to do the bass lines, drum loops, and add other bits and bobs here and there. Not complicated. So we are looking for a simple controller to do that. Basically im guitar and vocals, and she is the band. Not electronic genre based. In fact I may record my own bass lines and drums, for her to trigger. On a budget can yo recommend a simple intuitive set up? We need to load everything up for a song, and its ready to go, load next song, and go. In a set list. As simple as possible. Would a keyboard with pads, and ableton and a mac and Ipad be enough?
