Sharla in Japan Hi Sharla, looking cute indeed! Don't you already own a kimono like this? I would be surprised if you don't :) Lately I wanted to try japanese sweets after watching one of your older videos about a service where you can order little boxes filled with random japanese sweets and snacks. I don't remember the name anymore. When I wanted to place an order, I had to face the sad fact that they don't ship to Hungary (yet?). :(

Most of the sweets I can get at my local asian supermarket lack sweetness or have no sweetness at all. i don't know if they just don't put sugar in their sweets or the export products contain to much food preservers. Mochi cakes are only chewy here and have no taste what so ever. Sweet buns or fried sesam balls with red bean paste we can get at japanese restaurants are sweet though.

I found your channel the other day and I just cannot stop watching you! I am also super jealous of this video. It is insanely hard to find Wagashi and Dango in my area (NC). I'm placing an order soon with a company I found online but shipping is $50! Oh well I guess, gotta pay to play...or just to stuff my face with deliciousness! My boyfriend and I are actually very interested in the Japanese culture, him with cars & me with the food & just everything else! We talked about going to Japan as a vacation one day but then thought it would be even better just to get married there(in the far future) lol . I clearly went off topic...but anyways! I love your videos and I cannot wait to experience what you get to everyday. Love from America!!!

The rain was so horrible, but I still enjoyed my time there. I wanted to go to the amusement park and the skytree so bad, but cies la vie. I am determined to come back soon. Me and Mt Fuji have a date. :) P.S. Your videos, as well as Rachel and Jun, and Abroad in Japan, helped me a great deal with researching my trip - hoping for the rain to go away so that I can enjoy my last few hours. :) Thanks, Nik

I had heard of a few of the wagashi you demonstrated in this video but have not had chance to ever try any 😞 I am definitely looking forward to trying wagashi as it will be a nice change from the really sugary, sweet and almost sickly sweets we get here in the UK. That and I am in love with red bean paste though it is difficult to come across here; when I do find it, I totally stock up! (thank you local, independent stores 😉)The kimono really suited you as well 😃 haha. What was it like shooting in the KZread space? +Strawberry Mochi It's interesting, I like red bean buns and usually the paste is ver sweet and rich when I get it but a few months ago I got one in a local China Town bakery and it was not sweet at all, plus the paste wasn't mashed all the way I guess, it had full bean shapes in it. I will not go to that place again.

I would recommend Daifuku, it's so yummy and very easy to find. In Tokyo usually there's small traditional Wagashi shops in each town (station) so I would recommend to get one of those there. But ones you can get convini is fine too. And definitely try Manju too! Very easy to find as well.

Another great thing about many wagashi, is that many are traditionally low on fructose since they're sweetened by mizuame instead of sugar, which is pretty much pure glucose, though because of that the sweetness is much milder. So it's healthy and delicious.

New subscriber here! I'll be visiting Tokyo for the first time this November and will definitely try these out! You mentioned the wagashi shops in Asakusa. Could you do a video about your favorite (sites/shops/eateries) in Asakusa? (or other favorite neighborhoods you frequent in Tokyo)

I love Wagashi, when I went to Japan last year I didn't get much time to try them, so now I will look out for them in Asakusa! We have a really nice Wagashi shop in London; Minamoto Kitchoan and they do a Wagashi called Okashigure and it just melts in your mouth, delicious! I love having them with green tea :)

We finally got Daiso in Australia in the last year or so and they have small versions of that pancake (sorry I can't write Japanese yet) at the start. They are super good! It makes me go to Daiso more which is not a good thing. Lol.
