$5 Indian Street Food Tour at Girgaon Chowpatty Mumbai, India 🇮🇳 | Trying Pav Bhaji गिरगाव चौपाटी
Finally! We have been waiting to share our Indian street food adventure in Mumbai with you! Join us as we watch the sunset along Marine Drive. The boardwalk stretches along the coastline and is full of people enjoying the cooler temperatures and beautiful late afternoon colors. This is a great place to hang out, go for a walk, or even sip chai. After watching the sunset, we had over to the famous Girgoan Chowpatty Beach. We check out the beach scene before heading over to get food. The first thing we find to eat is Pav Bhaji, now one of our favorites! We continue to find more delicious “street foods” to try as we make our way through the vendors. We met many friendly people and loved the outdoor seating mat options.
Here are some of the foods we tried (and loved!):
Pav Bhaji - thick vegetable gravy served with soft, buttered white rolls and onions
Popcorn - Forest’s favorite! Lightly peppered
Pani Puri - a thin, crispy pastry stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes in a cold spiced water
Falooda - dessert concoction of textures: sweet basil seeds, vermicelli noodles, rose syrup, milk, ice cream, nuts, and dried fruits
Kulfi - cone-shaped mango popsicle (many other flavors available, too)

We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, eight years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in Chennai, India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. We hope that our travels will inspire and provide our children with the confidence to meet new people, try new foods, and enjoy learning a new language. Do visit Pune City and Kolhapur city as it has many temples, sculptures, musuems, forts, gardens, food and Culture. Pune City is known as Oxford of the east. Kolhapur city has many temples,variety of food, historical forts,Pavankhind,and Kolhapur was also once Vatican of wrestling in Indian Subcontinent. You are welcome.

One thing I really miss from India is the Pav. You can't duplicate that bread here in usa. Importing is not good idea. You just have to go there. Great video guys! Hope forest finds the spot in food, wakes up with word Ice cream hahaha.

Agreed. Although you can't even say that for the whole of India. Only in Mumbai and certain places in Maharashtra as far as I know have than yeasty fluffy non-sweet pav.

You revived my old memory - I remember walking from Chowpatty to Marine Drive every Sunday in the 70's, I was a teenager, now I live in Canada for over 48 yrs.

Hi Guys, t's MARINE DRIVE .... NOT 'MARINA BEACH DRIVE'. Marina beach is in Madras(now called Chennai)
I love Mumbai..visited many,many tyms. The people,food ,everything is awsumi im frm South africa.
Its called 'Marine drive' by the way. And the beach is called Girgao Chowpatty. Its crowded during the school vacations.
History behind Pav Bhaji is that it was made for Textile Mill workers who couldn't go for homes during lunch hour, the local food small eatery had veggies left over from earlier day. The leftover veggies (no dal there) were put together with tomato and butter smashed till all together & cooked then served with bread. It has a very humble beginning. These days no leftover veggies are used. You can eat more buttered Pav (breads) with the vegetable gravy.

Living in Mumbai for last 6 years. This city is amazing!! People are friendly and accepting. Also people are sober and soft spoken. My kind!! Not a fan of Mumbai food though but I can spend my entire work life in this city without any hesitation.Hope you enjoyed your stay here in Mumbai ❤🇮🇳!!

India is food paradise
Juhu Beach is the main beach in Mumbai. It is about an hour away from Chowpatty-Marine Drive where you were filming. The entire stretch of Marine Drive is referred to as the Queen's Necklace because the lights along the stretch from afar resemble a necklace. Mumbai is a melting pot and financial capital just like New York, so you will come across layers of economic realities and top-notch to dilapidated infrastructure in the city.
