But if he returned it had to be CRANKY Kong instead of Donkey Kong, and yeah i know it isnt confirmed if Cranky is the original DK and the DK we know now is DK Jr but seeing that the whole city has DK references all over the place, i dunno if the big gorilla is a menace of if he did something good for New Donk City after the events of the first 2 Donkey Kongs, specially the second one where Jumpman or Mario is the badguy. But other thing is that if Mario was the badguy in DK2, why the people in New Donk City and specially Pauline arent adressing that to Mario? maybe the original DK and DK 2 were set in the Old Donk City, after all its called "New" Donk City so that means there is a Old part of the city or another Donk City entirely. Sorry for the long rambling its that i still cant figure out that stuff.

The Cupid Costume makes him look like Pit from Kid Icarus. I wish they included costumes from other Nintendo games like they did with Bayonetta. He has other costumes from the Mario Universe like the Luigi, Wario, Waluigi and...Diddy Kong which probably is in the Mario Universe. But it also would have been cool if he had costumes from Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon. Pokemon main characters are all about hats.

They have toadette, peachette, and bowsette, but everyone forgot to mention Goombette?? Unreal. Unbelievable. Thanks. There goes that fanfic.

I think nobody mentions it because its pretty obvious that the Goombas are the only species that have more "fun" in the Mushroom Kingdom, thus why they arent allowed in the royal grounds because they arent pure like Toad or Toadette. But now that you mentioned Toadette, why is that she is the only female toad and there is no other one? after all, all toads look the same so there is only 2 options here: -Toadette is the mother of the entire Toad population, so it was quite unconfortable when she had to "attend" some issues with the younglings, hence why she isnt there all the time. -This is a Smurfs syndrome and toads can be harvested for gold? i mean they can be turned into stones that stores gold so, their souls are made of gold and that's why there is so many coins? that or they shit out coins.

New Donk city could have been so much cooler 😭

The Broodals being rabbits is tied to the Japanese folktale of the Rabbit on the Moon. You know how us westerners believe the markings on the Moon's surface look like a dude's face? Well the Japanese saw it as a bunny rabbit making Mochi instead, because of course they did. Give the fact that the moon is forshadowed several times as the final destination of the journey, with many shots prominently featuring it, it only makes sense that the main lackeys would be moon theme'd too, hence the rabbit motif. It's actually very possible that the Broodals were originally from the moon given the fact that there's also a cathedral there.

If you read the brochure of the Dark Side, it straight-up says that the Broodals are from the moon. That's why you fight them there. That part also gives them names and some character information, which is pretty cool.

The New Donk City in a Nintendo Theme.. that would have been legit the best. The.. "Normal" style of New Donk is kinda.. eh.. Oh I smell that Bowsette xD

I prefer the old concept from New Donk City. Way more creative.

I loved the dress up part of the game also. Especially the reactions you got wearing the different outfits. My favorite was what Bowser said when Mario was wearing the Bowser tuxedo, or how freaked out Bowser was over the clown getup.

I think your read on the early New Donk concept is a bit off. It seemed like they originally planned for New Donk to be the city Mario comes from, with humans proportioned just like him, and even his Plumber business as a place you can visit. Instead, they made New Donk a surreal land we haven't seen before in which the bizarre denizens resemble humans from our universe. I'm guessing they nixed showing Mario's hometown because they thought it better to let Mario's origins continue to be ambiguous.

The rabbit idea actually makes a lot of sense. The moon is prominently featured in the game, and many cultures associate rabbits with the moon. The most common magician trick is pulling a rabbit from a hat, and Odyssey is all about hats. The Mario + Rabbids crossover likely had nothing to do with it, as Odyssey was in development for longer, and there isn't a single reference to Mario + Rabbids, not to mention that it was handled entirely by Ubisoft, so the development teams wouldn't have shared notes.

Bowsette! Bowser possessing Princess Peach's body is like Xehanort possessing Terra's body to become Terra-Xehanort or Terranort!

That look of dawning realization at the end made me laugh.

Nintendo seems to have a habit of including scrapped ideas in future games. And since these are... honestly, WAY cooler than the actual final product, I think it’s safe to say we may find Mario shopping with Peach and a hat-wearing bird fighting off Reservoir Dogs crocodiles and alley cats someday.

Usually instead of admitting mistakes or stating their true points of view on certain topics Nintendo when asked answers with "no comment" or "no reply" On the base level it does secure company's reputation, since every company wants to look like a surperiour organisation incapable of being outdone and incapable of making mistakes. When designing games TONS and tons of concept art and brainstorms are going to exist. Some of the them seem way better than the final game but remember that the structure of the game wasn’t final. Something that would look cool in the current game may be bad in earlier concepts. And remember that there’s always time constraints. They can’t include everything. Heck, if we got some of those ideas we might be looking at concept art for the stuff we have now, and wish THAT was in the game. Ideas are always changing and at the end of the day it’s te devs creative choice.

What if they just don't care? -(What if they were, like, saving the concept for later (then all this shit happen and they may still be discussing over it)?)- That's an overrated fap-material-of-the-season (that has gone/went on for longer than it should) anyway. Pretty sure New Donk was a means to recton. Instead of coming from Brooklyn, Mario was a New Donker. The pipes from Mario Bros happened to be an interkingdom transport.

I think my all time favorite Mario meme is of the Boo meeting a Weeping Angel from Doctor Who.

I felt so dissapointed that Bowser didn't have his own ghost hat. Imagine a final fight with Bowser and Mario switching from different captures during every phase of the fight and ending with both of them controlling a T-Rex. That would have been soooo sick. I hope they use that concept if they make a Galaxy 2 sort of sequel with this (Which I think is pretty likely)

I am surprised with the many concepts for Cappy and New Donk City, 2 of my favorite parts of the game. I really want that Super Mario Odyssey art book now.

Since mario is about 5' 11" (I suppose) the people in new donk city are literally giants.

The ending had me nearly pissing my pants with laughter. Nintendo is gonna have to redesign my underwear at least 15 times to account for this.
