5 Ideas for April in Your Colorado Garden
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
April is the month that Colorado Gardeners have been waiting for. Real Gardening begins this month. The Front Range Gardener shares five ideas for your Colorado landscape this month.
April is a great time to prune deciduous trees and shrubs as well as ornamental grasses.
Some of the plants that you can plant in April include perennials like the blue chip juniper, and plants that Coloradans grow as annuals. These include snapdragons, primrose, dusty miller, Icelandic poppies, and my favorite, the pansy.
April is time to begin your lawn care regimen for the year. Tasks include dethatching bluegrass lawns, overseeding bare spots, and top dressing with organic matter. The most important tasks are core aeration and fertilization.
Plants start actively growing in April and their water needs go up. If the weather has been dry for a week, you need to water. Hand watering is tedious and boring. If you know how to turn on and off your sprinkler system. You can use it in April. Turn on and irrigate on warm sunny days. Turn off and drain it when a frost is forecast. An insulated cover for your backflow valve provides extra protection.

I subscribed cause I live near Denver Co - I’m so glad I found your channel ,so now I can follow your directions on planting & gardening with our up & down temperatures - please tell us what soils to add to our existing flower gardens take aren’t raised beds . I turned most of my lawn to flowers & made our own compost which I call gold .. now tell us what bagged soil to buy to add - I usually buy the garden soil at Costco & soils at Home Depot - Lowe’s - nurseries ..but I need to know what to buy .. I mix perlite in my soil - buy big bags on Amazon ..I grow tons of succulent grown covers .thank you .

Our growing season is so short, it's a good idea to start seeds indoors and transplant later. Even when we are past the last frost date, nights are cool for a while. Warm season crops can benefit from waiting until late-May to early June. If you want to start indoors now, you can transplant in 5-6 weeks. Direct sow in maybe 2-3 weeks. Add two weeks to these dates if you live above 6,000'.
Just discovered your channel. Great video, thanks!

Where do you stand on the sandals with spikes for aeration. No pun intended?

I think that they are less effective than core aeration, but certainly better than nothing.

He may have that condition and you may have a form of Tourette's. Probably Coprophenomena.
