Mine was the Squier. I feel like I'm the only bassist for whom active electronics are a deal breaker. Unfortunately they're extremely common in mid/high-end basses and are now finding their way in lower-end ones, like that Sire which I'd otherwise buy right away.

@@aspyr5681 Right there with you, after owning this bass a year, there is zero character, it just sounds dull. The eq is trash and runs very hot, causing distortion when trying to change eq and play clean.

Personally, I'd be even more interested with this long scale because of the very hollow-plastic-ish-thin-mids-focused-single-coil sound (ouah, that's a long one-word description) that might get us to some nasty territories. But as you are one of the very very fews who has a channel I subscribed to, who am I kidding ? Of course, I would be very interested !

Love the Sire! I've been considering one of their 5-string J basses. That said, the Squier sounds "like you" to me. Might be be the maple board played with a pick. I actually like Ibanezes normally, because they're great deals, if you get a well built one (I had one with a bad pot and a knob that kept falling off). But listening in this comparison, it just sounded a little flat. Obviously, that could be remedied with some EQ tweaking (or maybe it was in its super weak sounding coil tap mode). The Sire sounded probably the best to me, but the Harley was kinda interesting too.

Nice video as usual Patrick. I've been looking at marcus miller basses for a while now, great instruments for the price. Did you prefer the P7 over V7? If so, why is that? I'm actually considering buying the V7 but would be nice to see what's your opinion.

Amedeo S Thanks man! I didn't get the chance to really play around with a V7 unfortunately but the P7 was truly an amazing sounding and feeling instrument. It's def one I want to try out more to see what different sound possibilities I can achieve with it

Please do : I have one I purchased after selling my Sandberg California ; no regrets, even the slightest whatsoever ! Play with the buttons and you get either a really nice and full p-sound or a more modern studio machine. And everything in between. The only thing I don't quite like as much is the bridge jazz pickup, a bit thin on itself.

Bouth great, if you like jazz basses the most go with the v7, if you prefer PJ go with the P7

In terms of features and bang for the buck, it’s tough to beat a Sire. But I’m generally not a fan of PJ PUP combo basses. Much prefer their V7 Jazz bass models.
