    For all of you thinking the first lady is innocent: the woman claimed that her husband shot their daughter and she killed him in retaliation. However, she was the only one in the house with gunpower residue on her hands. None was found on her hunbands hands, also, only her fingerprints were on the murder weapon. After she murdered them both, she stayed in the house with the bodies for 3 days. They were only discovered after she mentioned the dead bodies on a phone call with her sister. It was her sister who notified the authorities. Her closing statements may be believable, but you have to understand the manipulative mind of sociopath. If I didn't know the details of the case, I would believe her, too/

    I read something like 5 articles wondering one thing: did the husband have gun shot residue on his hands. None of them said. That would have been the main point of my article.

    G V--well yes and no...most of the time the courts have it right but they’re usually not interested in justice as much as punishing someone for the crime and being done with it! We just had an inmate who after many years of appeals and by the grace of God a retrial, he actually proved he was innocent of murder! He had been incarcerated by the time he was exonerated for 16 years!! You know the always hear inmates say they’re innocent but in his case he truly was! Very sad and scary and there’s many more like him.

    Yeah, I feel bad seeing it. It felt like she knew what happened but simply could not prove it, and she realized that it meant she was going to die in jail now. One time I was accused of stealing a book when school was ending when I was just mindlessly putting the book in my backpack without thinking. It was time to go home, I got excited. The teacher, who did not know me, accused me of stealing and would not believe anything else. My brother had to come get me, she would not let me leave. It was so frustrating to be treated that way when I knew I did nothing wrong. This is the only comparison I have, and it's not really a good one. But I can at least imagine how that lady felt.

    The fathers reaction to getting life for killing his daughter by neglect was priceless. How deluded do you need to be to think there's no punishment for such an evil crime. Mother wasn't much better, all those tears for herself. I don't understand how a mother can just not actually care for her baby. Seems insane to me.

  • @AllThisThen

    @AllThisThen

    The father reacted to the sentence he would be punished with. The mother reacted to the accusations of having murdered her child and of being an unfit mother. Nothing can fully excuse that she didn't get outside help, but that was a situation defined by the husband who was just an absolutely horrific soulless monster of a person who had been abusing her for years. Even just what was factually documented about him... I was very sad that she also got life w/o parole. Meeting him ruined her life.

I at least know myself that having kids is the worst possible thing for me, and I really don't have the mental capacity to handle them. Unfortunately this doesn't stop others from having kids who really shouldn't have them to begin with! I feel so badly for the older kids and the baby who sadly died from neglect. Hopefully the older kids are in a much better home with people who care about their well-being and health.

    It’s not necessarily that she was surprised. Even if you expect to be found guilty and sentenced to life (I’m not sure if she did, but she certainly received a very, very long sentence - and she knew that would happen when she was found guilty), it’s something entirely different to actually hear/read the words. Most killers probably know they are going to spend a very long time in prison, but that doesn’t mean it’s not going to be emotional or difficult to actually hear the sentence in court.
