I prefer the intro of Dvořák's Symphony n°9 and Mahler's symphony n°1.

It's true, Bach is badass, and Wagner's Lohengrin so pure and delicate. Strauss' work sounds like a film studio opening; also the examples from Beethoven and Brahms are epic; though, I think the emotion is a bit missing. What I consider as really good openings are those by Tchaikovsky, especially for his first piano concert and his ballets. Perhaps not so this grandezza slowburn, but I feel more touched...

I will do a sequel, so feel free to add any suggestion! Even tho I think (spoiler allert) the entry by Tchai will be the opening of piano concerto no. 1 in the next video.

@@ClassicalPower Tchaikovsky indeed wouldn’t feel so happy within bombastic openings, but the Lohengrin overture was one of his most beloved pieces. Apart from this, I think he would feel happy between Mozart - le nozze di Figaro or Don Giovanni, Bizet (Carmen, of course) and Rossini 😉. For sure, the first piano concert is probably Tchaikovsky’s most famous opening. What I love even more is the introduction to Sleeping Beauty, as this develops into such a fine music and gives another more hopeful expression of music. (Swan Lake is mostly only known for the theme, and not the beginning, and it would be rather suitable for a dark music playlist, as this one is so full of pain…the opposite to the sweet Nutcracker suite).

I kind of remember he liked Lohengrin ouverture... well indeed it's one of the few Wagner pieces which is so delicate all along (Tchai didn't like bombastic music in general ahah). However I'll think about your suggestions, btw I particularly like Sleeping beauty intro too: rushing immeditely into action before fading away to the fantasy world... Even tho the piano concerto it's more iconic and "popular". You are right about Swan Lake and the Nutcracker as well.

@@ClassicalPower Ok, glad to hear that - though, the Sleeping Beauty introduction can't be shortened that easily, whether the first piano concert is most notable only because of the opening , it's the best part (;
