I’m a chick learning to tie ties out of pure interest, and looking at all these knots, I never would’ve thought that a fat knot is better for a bigger body type, and a thinner more uneven knot type would be better for a thinner and taller body type! On first glance it seemed to me like the bigger fancier knots would just always be better because they look cooler and like they took more skill. That tip was the most helpful to me! Thank you!

  • @Plmccln

I’ve always thought that uneven tie knots look unstylish. I learned one (tie) knot as a kid and just stuck with it for a lot of decades. I think it is called a Windsor. I do like what you have called a novelty knot. My only problem is that I am stuck in the American outback, aka Idaho, and I don’t go many places where a tie is appropriate. Keep up the great work.

Very well done video. I appreciate the camera angles. The only unknown is why you start most knots with the tie upside down. I've never heard of that method and it appears that those knots end up with a twist at the collar line. Maybe I've been doing it wrong my whole life if there's a logical reason you choose to put a Twist at the collar

Personally I prefer the Full Windsor knot, I got a bigger body so wide knots look better and I've practiced it enough that I can get it done pretty easy..I may have to redo it a time or two to adjust the length but other than that I got it down pretty much to memory.

The only problem with wide tie knots is I only wear solid ties with heavy texture (I have been swearing by these ties for 3 years now) and wide tie knots significantly shorten these ties’ life spans. I have a portly build but I’m the process of switching my build to medium width.

@@timcorrell9863 Yeah, I can see them shortening the life span, it doesn't help that i have a preference for even knots as well..I've tried some uneven knots but I just don't like how they look on me so pretty much the only knots I focus on are ones that come out even..not going for any of the harder more exotic knots though..when it comes to neckties I like to KISS as I often tell myself.
