Nice to see not the usual suspects..I'm not particularly a palm man but the one you showed is tempting. Thank you

Thanks. It's a great plant. I'll be digging it up and dividing in spring

I agree with the ginger you selected I have it in my garden and it is truly a no maintenance plant and does great in the ground over winter

i'd love a video on fun plants which can take -20C. that's what i have to deal with some years. i will definitely get palms and some other less than hardy stuff, but i'll have to protect it a whole lot over winter

I will have to try the ginger you mentioned, I started growing Cautleya spicata robusta this year and already want more ginger, but wasn't sure about hardiness of some of the Hedychiums.

It's reliably hardy to minus 10 which should be fine for most gardens

Kris, a question about the hedychium forrestii. I planted two out this year. Would you treat it like a bulb, let the foliage die back completely so the goodness returns back to the rhizome? Secondly, I was planning to leave all the brown and dead foliage in place to act as a mulch over winter.

Yes it's starts going yellow after flowering and will go to mush after the first frosts. The old stems quite often come away from the rhizomes but you could leave the old stems over them if you wish.

Are there other kinds of clumping bamboos that get that tall? I'd love a B1046 but they are like gold dust!

There are other Borindas that get that tall and Fargesia robusta gets close at over 3m
