It's been 6 years since you made this, and I'm SO glad I found it! Just yesterday I saw the RITVA curtains at IKEA, now with a 65" long option (and they're so popular they were out of stock) and your explanations/descriptions have really helped me understand all the possibilities. For you and anyone seeing this, I've also learned about C-rings (just like the rings you used but shaped like a C rather than and O) for hanging drapes when there's a bracket in the middle of the rod. Many thanx!
I realize this is an old video, but wanted to let you know I have come back to watch several times. Just shopped for my curtains at Ikea and without your video I would have been clueless. Thank you.
I have the same white IKEA curtains in my bedroom and I am not happy with the way they look, but you've given me several new options to try. Thank you!!!
12 years later and this is still helpful! Thank you! :D
Thanks so much! I chose to use the method you used in your bedroom. It actually solved 2 problems for me...how to make my ring clips look better/more formal with my curtains...and how to lift my curtains a little higher to get them off the floor. I'm so happy...my curtains look way better now! Thanks!
You literally answered every question I had RIGHT as it entered my brain. Fantastically informative video. Thank you!
Hi Jenna. Thanks for the detailed vid.. much appreciated. I truly like the different styles, especially the pleater hooks with the rings. My decor dilemma is now solved. BTW, love the layout of your home...also excellent idea showing curtains in different rooms. Well done!
I learned from this, thank you. I enjoyed your appreciation of the attractiveness of the various styles -- creating and enjoying beauty is what this is all about.
Thank you so much for this video! These are things we are not taught in schools. My curtains are now up and look great because of you x
This is so helpful! I’ve been looking for all the different hanging options! Thank you for explaining so well and having all the examples!
The quality of how we vlog is so different. Awesome for you being a pioneer! 😊
Thanks so much, Jenna. I bought curtains on Overstock and they had a strip along the top of the curtain with a long pocket, strips along the back every 2 inches or so and eyelet holes. Didn't know what all of them were for. Your video was very helpful. Thanks for taking time out to do the video .. for the 920th time.
Thank you, Jenna. This is a great help to me. I just bought some gorgeous drapes on Amazon, of all places. I have been at a loss about how to hang them to the best effect. I guess I will experiment around and see which method you suggested looks the best.
S Nguyen, they are called Riktig. The link to my blog is above in the description and I have a picture of the box posted there. Hope that helps!

Thanks Jenna. Very informative. I'm a total newbie who is going to put up some black out curtains and want to get that pleated look. Those riktig's look intimidating, but now, thanks to you not so much.
This has been so helpful! Thank you :) I was hanging my Ikea ones completely wrong and couldn't figure out why they just didn't look right!

Very helpful. I hv an older window in a very tight powder room. I want to elongate the window but I barely hv space to put a rod up. Now with the hidden rod method, I can use my ikea clip rings and do a no-sew method and get the fabric that’s been sitting in my closet for nearly a year, finally hung. 👏🏼
Thx for all the ideas ! It’s now 2020 (and your kids are now 8 yrs older !) and I’m just now buying the white Ritva curtains. I want them on aaaaaaall of my windows in every room - family room, kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom and sitting room, and 3 other bedrooms. That’s a lotta curtains lol but I love them. And these ideas are great because I may now decide to hang the curtains differently in the dining room and living room versus the family room & kitchen & bedrooms. Now I just hope that I can still get my hands on these IKEA white panels ..
Loved your video!! you did a fantastic job of explaining and getting to the point! Thank you!
Finally, a nice video with different styles of drapes! Thank you much!!
Thank you! I was overwhelmed with so many options, but you explained everything very well.
you're the best thank you! You made my life so much easier. I bought these pleater hooks and was using them ALL WRONG until your video. Many thanks!
Wow, this video was amazing. Thank you so much Jenna for making everything so clear and easy. And your personality and sincerity is so refreshing. Take care of yourself and thanks again.😊
I know this is an older video but it helped me so much. Thanks!

btw, another method that I ended up doing was turning the pleater hooks backwards so that I could still use the rod pocket fiber things. No rings yet I still get a deep pleat. The hook part of the pleater hook is hidden in the pleat. Allowed me to hide the pole and still get the very formal look. Thank you!

I end up finding his helpful video EVERYTIME I launder my curtains and then can't remember how to re-install the hooks. Thank you! 1 million views, that's just bananas!
Thank you so much! I learned more from your video than actual professional ones. Thanks for the different looks.
Thanks Jenna! Very informative and helpful. Thanks for all the details on the different styles.
Hi Jenna, Great video, you taught me many tricks. I love to make a pretty home for my family as obviously you do too. You seem like such a lovely, dear young woman. I thought your pronunciation of curtain was incredibly charming and I cannot believe people made such comments. I wish you were my neighbor and we could share a cup of coffee and you could give me decorating ideas. Keep up the great work as a mom and a woman! Post more ideas! Lisa

Awww, thanks, Lisa!
Thank you! This was great - the clips had me confused and you helped clarify how they're used. You should take a look at the Kvartal system from IKEA...absolutely amazing...you can hang up to three different depths of drapes on the track system - or create panels to create whole new spaces within a room. I'm using the three part system to hang sheers behind opaque. You'd love the system :)
Thank you so much for this video! I just purchased curtains, rings and pleat clips from IKEA, but was having a hard time understanding how to use them and ran across your video. Great content!
Omg thank you. I have no idea about curtain but I’ve been trying forever to figure out if I can put pleather hooks on the Ike as curtains
Thank you for this excellent video. I did not realize that IKEA curtains were so versatile! And thank you for sharing your beautiful home and other ways to hang curtains.

I ADORE Ikea curtains! Aren't they great? And you're most welcome! My pleasure :)
Jenna you leave an excellent informative video on the curtain hanging choices. Your voice is very pleasant, you're organized, very thorough, well spoken, and adorable in style, but not annoying or cutesy. I'm an older retired educator, but YOU taught me a lot without wasting my time! LOVED it. (this is my first comment and I surf cyberspace a LOT!)

Thank you. :) When I made and posted this video it was totally last minute and I never expected it to be seen by so many people I didn't know! The feedback on my pronunciation caught me totally by surprise. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! You totally made my day. :)

I agree. I was super frustrated & after watching this, her explanation calmed me down.
Very helpful, now I can go and the supplies needed. Thanks sweetie!
I used 20 pleater hooks on each panel. I honestly can't remember how far apart I spaced them. I did have to cheat a little - skipping four slots on some and three on others. I know that's not extremely helpful, but hope knowing that I used 20 per panel helps a little.
Hey thanks for letting me know what Pleater Tape is. I've had a 6 1/2 yd roll and couldn't find out what this item is called to label for a yard sale. Thanks for Info
Thank you for this. I am making my own curtains and wasn't sure of the best option but now I feel informed :)
So grateful I happen upon your video! Love the explainations and visual of different style something I never got school on. Thanks!
Ooooh I love the fabric on your sofas!!! That's like what I want for my bathroom curtains I am going to make....er.....TRY to make. lol And I love your choice of fabric for your dining room.. The wall color in your dining room is the color I chose for my boudoir, lol, and the curtains, fabric and style, are JUST like what I am trying to make! And it gives me a nice visual of how it WILL look, so thank you. And on to your room, with the blk and white curtains THAT is a great idea and THAT is what I will do! Your house if beautiful, too. Thanks, glad I checked out your video!! It was most helpful. Take care.
Thanks so much for this, I just opened my package of Ritva panels and was lost until I saw this! So helpful!
Thanks! Loved the video...it was so helpful. I am going to hang new curtains in my bedroom and I have been scared to death! Now....I can see there are so many different methods and all are relatively easy! Thanks!!
I never knew those pleater hooks exsisted, and when i saw them online there were no instructions, so Thanks for the video, very helpful!
Great video - very helpful! Thank you for the tips. I found them useful for my home.
Thank you for this video. I have been wanting to go to IKEA desperately to get curtains. My parents had those pleating pins. I haven’t seen those in forever
Thank you so much for this wonderful video I think you did an awesome job elaborating and being so informative for each type of curtain at least for me ...this was helpful because I am looking to add drapes to my new living room so I really don’t know how to do this or where to start and this was very useful.
Love your video, love your home, very helpful, thank you!
thank you for the video, showed me how to use riktig, plus pleats
From my husband, "I clamped it on my workbench between two pieces of stiff angle iron. Then using the Vise Grip Sheet Metal bending tool, I bent the flat stock against the angle iron to make the sharp 90 degree bend {where the bracket goes flat against the wall}."
Give the lady a break. She is demonstrating curtains not entering a competition on language or speech. Thank you for the video and your time Jenna Qu. You are helping to show the way for us to have better curtains. Much appreciated.

Lol! Thanks, Joan!
Pinch pleat pins have been around forever. They definitely give a nice touch to curTains instead of just running fabric onto a rod.
Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to figure out a way to put room darkening panels behind....
I love how she is such a mom making sure we got all styles! So nice. Thank you, I got it!
Thanks for making this video! Do you know the name of those ring things you attach to the pleating hooks? It’s the 2 circles (one small circle and one big circle)
What a great video; you were very through and the information was perfect for me. Please make a video on how to measure you window for drapes. Thank you
really helpful! Now I know what to buy to get the look I was wanting! thanks so much!!
Thank you for the video! It helped me in my first and new apartment
Thank you so much! It seems simple but not easy for everyone of us.
I think this is a super cool tutorial on how to hang the curtains.
This is super-helpful. Thank you!
Thanks for this Jenna. Helped me a lot.
I love it and I was over here stuck at first but thanks to u I’m feeling confident 😀

This was such a GOOD video!!! Thank you so much!!! Great help! :)
Thanks much, just hung curtains today and winged in .. hung in tabs on back but curtains do not slide open and close very well, in fact they are heavy so its a struggle, going to go back and add the pleat hooks then ring clips will be so much better but not sure how much lower they'll hang now.. anyway, thank you for solving this mystery for me.
My husband actually made. We use 1 1/4″ EMT steel conduit. You can buy it at Home Depot. The one you are referring to without the center bracket is just one piece of conduit. The really long one in the living room {which has a center bracket} is two pieces he welded together. He also made the brackets which he cut to size and shaped from steel flat stock {again from Home Depot}. We painted them all with Rustoleum’s Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint to get the color we wanted.
Thanks! I love your last DIY method.
I can't even tell you how helpful this video was!! Maybe I missed it - but do you have an idea of about how many pleater hooks you used on each Ritva panel?
@littlemamabird
7 жыл бұрын
I used 20. You could use more or less depending on how pleated you want it to look. (Also, sorry for the super-late reply! I haven't checked in on this video for a long time!)
Thanks so much, I was so confused about how to put these up.
Thank you so much for doing this. I've been researching on how I can have better clips on curtains and you answered my question so well. Thank you, I appreciate this. How many kirtig hooks does 1 panel have, so I can estimate how many hooks should I buy? Thank you for your help.
so my landlady has these really weird curtain rods... and im trying to find the right curtains to buy to replaces hers until we move... i would really love your help to figure out what kind of curtains i need for these!! or if i have to make them myself.
Thank you. I found this very helpful.
Extremely helpful video! Thank you so much!
So enjoyed your video, very informative!! Blessings
you answered every question I've ever had about curtains. Ikea should pay you because we are all just guessing about how to hang their curtains lol. Thank youuuu!
Thanks so much for your informative video... great examples, was a tremendous help to me.

Thank you, just found this video and it was so very helpful, best curtain vid ever 🙌🏻👏🏻
Many thanks for sharing your experience with these different types of Curtain hem type's 👏👏👏😀
Where did you get your bronze heavier duty O rings? Do you have a link? Thx
Continued..."To make curved bend, I first determined where I wanted the bend to start and then repositioned the piece between the angle iron to about 1.5" before where I wanted it to bend. Then with the Vise Grip tool I slowly bent the piece to the shape of the pipe."
Great ideas!
thank you!! thank you!! thank you!!! i was so stuck and so confused thank you!
Do you know if any Curtain from Ikea has the rod pocket? I'd like to use that. But is not in the descriptions, even in the Ritva ones.
Great job! Very helpful. Thanks!!!
our curtain rings sqick when you pull them across, ive used polish on the rails but that don't work, will wax work ?
Thanks so much for this informative video! I want to hang the Ikea curtain panels in my kitchen using the pleater hooks like you showed. However, I'm not sure if I need more than 2 panels per window. Can you tell me how wide of an area the panel covers once it is pleated in this way? I plan to use 20 hooks per panel since that is what you said you used. Thanks!
just the information I was looking for. great video, very useful, thanks!
Thank you...it solved my issue.. great video
what was the spacing on the pleat hooks? Did you skip 2, 3, or 5 to create the pleat? How much space did you do between each hook?
Thanks. Huge help!
Love this video, thank you!
I have ikea panel curtains dnt know how to use those if u can make vid on that
I have some fabric that is almost the same as your chair fabric! I'm working on a massive drape project, but YT's have been invaluable. One question I have is who taught so many young people to pronounce curtains as "curt-ens", "mitt-ens", etc. You didn't do it all the way through, but my husband and I chuckle to hear so many younger people emphasize the 2nd syllable. Great job on the video!! Thanks for letting us see your house!
This video was so helpful, thank you!
Hi Jenna - I am in the process of purchasing curtains for our new home and there are so many things to think about, it is overwhelming. Your video helped a TON. But I have one very important question: When pulling the drapes to close them over the window, how does the pleating and pins alter the width of the window panel? I
Very clear video--thanks for all the info.
Can you hang those hooks onto a lock seam curtain rod? Is lock seam only for rod pocket curtains?
Hello... how bout if i just put the pleater hook directly to the rod not using the ring? Thank you😊
