Full write up for 5 days in the Ribble Valley:

For things to do in the Ribble Valley, find my full itinerary below:
Day 1 - Weets Hill isn’t too challenging of a hike, there was a few boggy sections to contend with up in the fells, but you should expect that on the fells. Quiet place to walk.
The views from the summit here are pretty special, and there’s a conveniently placed bench for a well earned sit down to take it all in.
Also on my recommended route up here, look out for a strange big headed statue nearby.

I decided to head out for an evening meal at the Calfs Head pub in Worston on day 1. This pub is around 10 minutes from the holiday park. I really enjoyed my dining experience here; superb service, their burger was delicious, and it was great to see they served up lots of local beers on tap as well.
Day 2 - unfortunately weather wise, it was a write off. I’d therefore planned to attend a local tourism event in Clitheroe, organised through the Forest of bowland, all about sustainable tourism.
The event, held at Holmes Mill, attracted speakers and attendees from all over the UK.
We were given a free lunch, lots of ideas & inspiration to take away for small business owners, and it was great to see a few familiar faces collecting their green tourism awards.
If you’d like to learn more about the event, click below to read a full write up provided by a local PR firm:

In the evening, I popped next door to the Bowland Brewery Beer Hall, sampled a couple of beers from their collection and demolished some American-style food from their menu. Beltin!
Day 3 - windy, fog and a little rain… not ideal conditions for Pendle Hill unfortunately, so I decided to go tackle a less exposed route through Gisburn Forest, towards another summit trig point, called Whelpstone Crag.
For my route, I opted to start from the village of Tosside. There’s a small, free carpark there, and by starting here, I knew I'd likely miss most of the mountain bikers who you’ll often seen flying down through the busy bike trails.
I originally planned a route that was going to take me up following public footpaths but they were not clearly marked in the end (hard to follow without GPS), so I wouldn't recommend that route.
Note on the day I visited, the summit was full of sheep, who were very curious of my presence. Dogs on leads for this part of the walk I’d say!
To return, I chose to try other footpaths, wading through more bog, following slightly better public footpaths this time. I don't mind recommending this as a route back towards Tosside. I’ll leave a route up to Whelpstone crag below:

Day 4 - Road trip.
Unfortunately, the rain continued over the Valley, so we planned a mini road trip.
First stop was Hamish’s cafe - we went here for lunch, it’s dog friendly too. Superb food!
Next, we dropped down into Blacko for a quick look at the Pendle heritage centre museum.
After Blacko, we headed for the village of Downham - known for being in the movie Whistle down the wind, and the tv series, Born & Bred.
The village is an ideal starting point for an alternative walk route up Pendle Hill, with free parking and toilet facilities made available to its visitors.

Next stop was Sawley, where there’s an old heritage site worth checking out, Sawley Abbey.
Moving on, we made the short drive over to Holden Clough Nurseries. They have a lovely garden centre and massive gift shop, and after a good browse, we stopped for brew in their cafe, ‘the reading room kitchen.’
Day 5 - our last day at Holgates.
After four fun-filled days, it was time to leave the holiday park. We planned to visit the neighbouring Gisburn Estate, also known as Ribblesdale Park.
There’s a really nice restaurant at the centre of the holiday park, called Hindelinis - also dog friendly.
Look out for their sika deer which often graze nearby.
Trip complete - what a week!
Thanks for watching.

Thanks Julie 🙏🏻 Appreciate your feedback, and I too agree :) Doing my best to film & showcase this local (but large) county, whilst everyone else hops over to the Lakes it seems! 🤪

Born and raised in Preston but just moved to Clayton, feel like I've been in a bubble my whole life and now I have all these grand outdoor spaces around me, started following walks on All Trials and came across you on Tiktok today whilst looking for some reviews on walking boots. Glad I have, may see you out and about sometime hopefully, you'll see me with my Mini Daschund. All the very best and keep up the content. 👍🏻

Aye it's grand around here. there was a mini food market in Longridge today, got myself some nice cheeses and vegetables and some top pies. I do like a Butter Pie with fresh cooked vegetables. A butcher and fishmonger would've just topped it off. But lucky enough, Longridge has two great butcher's shops - Anderton's has your wild and Game meats sorted out whilst Rowles has pies, cooked and fresh meats like their 100% Rump Burgers that never lose size and shape on a barbecue or under the grill and both are very friendly and helpful.

Sounds like you know your local food Mark! Need to give Longridge more time, appreciate those suggestions :)
