I find I talk to myself more now that I'm over 60 then before. I figured it out. I'm talking to the most intelligent person I know. I agree with me on most everything. Sure we argue once in a while but not much, AND definitely NOT in public.

I'm getting all emotional after seeing good, old Shug of the piney woods finally grab a paddle and head out on a solo canoe trip. Watching him glide effortlessly across the BWCA does my old heart good. Keep the open side up and maybe you'll be up for a trip to Ontario's piney woods one day!

I think I heard you say portage the Canadian way...you've been watching too many paddlers up north! Very touched to be mentioned there---thanks a million Shug. Chilly start, not so fun for wet feet (or the nether regions for that matter), but it only makes that steamy espresso taste better. Love watching you soak up the joy of the canoe trip. Looked like a really nice boat to solo and that little pocket fisherman was a riot. Few things could enhance living more than a loving partner 💚

Lordy, Lordy, Lordy! Shug in a canoe. I gotta say, for a first time solo trip, you made some good decisions. Cold and rainy...stay another day. Windy? Angle the canoe at a 45 degree angle. Got a canoe? Bring a little extra. Portage your own shortage. I hope to see more trips in the future!

You're an inspiration to us "not so young guys anymore:, Shug and this was your first solo canoe trip and I have to thank you for inspiring me to do my first 4 day solo hammock moto camping trip in Northern Ontario last week. I learned so much about hammocks from you that I could have never figured out on my own and all those old videos of yours were new to me and got me to the confidence level to give it a try. You saved me so much time and frustration that I would have no idea how to put this complicated puzzle together without your help. I LOVED it and was warm and dry on one day of rain and one night it got close to 0 (32), but I had all green lights on this one. Keep being the inspiration you are and not sure I could have done it without you.

Always nice to get away. Got back yesterday from a short trip up to Lake Mille Lacs for a few days. Beautiful as always. Got some wonderful pictures of sunrise and sunset, birds. There were several Pelicans mingled with Loons and other water fowl. My adult son's and I all enjoy photography so sometimes we get in each others way as we tend to see similar great shots. Have to chuckle. Lots of fun. Time away is good but coming home is really nice. Low slung chairs are hard to get out of as time goes by. My son's have had to help me at times getting up. Then think on the next adventure. Thanks for sharing your BWCA trip. We also got some really good photo's of the moon. Beautiful.

Well it sorta looks like a hammock. I wonder how it hangs. Nice to see you try new things. I used to have a kayak and often wished I had went with a canoe. Waterproof stuff sacks tied in, makes good flotation. Garbage bags are lightweight waders. I live in a desert now and the nearest water is full of jet skis. Kevlar used to be the lightest boats, but it is likely carbon fiber these days.

What a treat to wake up and see this at the top of my You tube feed. My first thought when I saw it and read the title…”Whoo buddy!” Great video of course. I also love I’m catching you at the beginning of you’re canoe adventures. Amazing that you packed (and carried) so much stuff! As far as the chair, I had similar thoughts. Love how light it is, but it’s not so easy getting out. They do make a bottom piece that helps it from sinking into the ground which helps. My wife made basically the same thing out of a piece of tyveck that I now use that keeps it super light. Anyway, looking forward to part 2!
