I have an even quicker hack for no ‘turning bumps’. turn UNDER instead of OVER. It removes the twist that turning over makes. 🤷🏻♀️
The ply you did is called Navajo ply and they do this to have thicker yarn for their rugs. I have used it in knitting. Thank you and the best to you.
To make thicker yarn with the loops is a great idea! 🧡

I saw it on Tuula Maaria's crochet channel years ago...she's a great crochet coach from Finland. Many, many useful hacks! "Crochet with Tuula Maaria", check her out!

This is called chain plying or Navajo plying when you spin a yarn from fibre. Instead of having 3 spools of yarn (all with slightly different lengths) you only need one and won't have any spools with leftover bits.
I make my own stitch markers or stitch savers. Those come in super handy when a project needs to go into time out. I put a letter bead on the marker. I went to a local farmer's market, there was a gentleman there with a crochet stand. He put skeins of yarn into clean 2 liter bottles, he cut the bottoms of the bottles put the skein in, taped up the bottom ran the working yarn through the bottle opening.

That miss stitch would haunt me if I don't fix it right 😂but I love them all thanks for sharing

Oh it does haunt me! But sometimes I'm too lazy (and frustrated lol) to unravel a bunch🤣
I enjoy making blankets, anything wider than 2 ft. here is my savior, after I get almost a foot high, I accordion fold the blanket about 3-5 inches wide, thicker the yarn, wider the fold, then tie the bundle, I used scrap yarn, go around 2 times and tie, so now you have a bundle on your lap, the working edge opens like a fan, and as you work your Blanket, keep tying as it gets longer, I like doing this as that my cat helps me, she can not lay on it, it stays clean, can travel with it, Bags up much easier. I enjoy your shows.

I love all these tips except the one where you missed a stich. It's a clever tip but I would never be able to live with myself if I just patched it up, even tho it would save me time and energy having to undo my work. Kudos to you tho for finding a new idea for fixing your work, it's ingenious, it's just not something my horrible perfectionist nature would allow me to actually do, and then live peacefully with myself afterwards. The tip I especially love, is the one where you used a loop in the wool to change a single thickness of yarn into a thicker one. What a clever idea! I am new to your channel but I think I'm utterly hooked, pun intended, on your videos. Thank you for posting these tips and tricks, they are very helpful. God bless you

Thanks for sharing your perspective! And I totally get about not being able to live with the knowledge there's an error. I tend to be a perfectionist myself, but crafting and creative things are the one area I'm pretty good at letting go of my need for perfection. Of course, I likely wouldn't use the filling in hack if it were for a commissioned project. But I've found it allows me to actually finish projects versus putting them in a permanent time out because I don't want to unravel 😂 So glad to have you here and thanks for watching! God bless.
I love your rap Amanda! Thanks for showing how to neaten up my crochet! Have a beautiful day!

The fill in the skip stitch, genius! I've done doubling up my yarn before but that was a nice hack. I think you've shown the alternative double crochet before on a turn project. Y'all😂
Wow! hack #3 is GREAT
Thank you for showing us the hacks, Amanda. ❤❤❤
I love this hack! However, when I use multiple yarns, I just place each ball/skein in a bowl or flower pot. I don’t have any tangles when I do this. ❤❤❤
Love the sc edge hack‼️
Love that first hack!!!!!
Incredible, thank u!
Wow, the single crochet hack to keep edges straight is awesome!
Love all the hacks.
All 5 hacks are so useful. My favorite is the 3 strands, it's just brilliant. I was debating if I should 3 balls of yarn for a project, but worries that I may not finished the yarn at the same time, then I ended up with 3 small balls of left over yarns. Or the other way around. Now I can get the extra yarn as needed. Thank you so much for putting this together. Answered so many questions for a beginner crocheter like me. 🙂

Hack number two blew my mind! I might be able to gift an item without doing finishing rows all around! Thank you!
Thanks for the straight edge hack! I always have trouble with the SC stitch edge being uneven. Love it. Also the hack for turning 1 strand into bulky is amazing. That is wonderful because when buying bulky there usually aren't many yards in the skein and you wind up paying a lot more for more skeins that you need.
