    One extra tip that took me some time to find: To recenter the riders list on yourself in the companion app, you need to double-tap any name in the list, then your own entry will centre in the middle of the screen. It's not intuitive and not really documented anywhere.

    Love you're channel! New to Zwift and your videos are the best Zwift resource I've found! Request... Could you do a video what the Tour de Zwift is all about? I just use Zwift to stay in shape and I'm not a racer. Is there any point for us non-racers??? Thanks in advance!

  • @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'm probably going to cover a ride soon, and I mention it a little in my next video but there is totally a case for non racers. In fact, its mostly non racers. They are huge group ride. Did one yesterday with 1800 people! People just break into sub groups at their desired pace and just ride. The categories are only for distance not ability. Some people will "race" it, but there are no results at the end, just ride your ride for personal pride. There's a bunch of unlocks along the way - Jersey, hat, socks etc and you have 5 days to do each ride (total of 8) plus a make up week at the end. Doesn't matter what distance you do, you get the same credit. These rides pull the biggest crowds so its a great way to get more miles for your effort because the blob moves so much faster than you could on your own for the same effort. I'd register and do the stage 1 ride and see if you like the group dynamic it DEFINITELY does not need to be a race you could noodle it or go for a personal best and still have plenty of folks around.

    The ability to create a workout from a GPX ride is great! Seems like it's close to being able to create a "Magic Road". It would be great to make a local ride and not just a workout. I have several rides I've created on RGT, but what's lacking there is the ability to see where you are on the virtual course; no waypoints or other features to identify your location. ZWIFT has a map with your location which would help.

    The camera view, I haven't heard of a way to do that but I am not an expert on the mobile or ATV platforms. I'm nearly positive you can click the green box for the clean upload on the photos though. If you use the companion app to trigger the shutter, it should save the photos to your phone. I am not sure if an Apple keyboard with ATV will let you use the shortcuts for the pairing screen, but you enter the menu screen and hit the bluetooth button and accomplish the same thing. It's an extra click, but it should still be faster than coasting. Lastly, the ride ons will work on any platform as long as you have the companion app running.

    Very useful information, one question with Zwift, if you choose a course that you could finish in an hour's workout dose the choice of left, right or straight actually take longer to complete? In other words know the course.

  • @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    3 жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, what I think you are asking is that if you choose a course in the menu and then those directional choices come up in the workout what happens if you press them? Don't touch those, if you change the direction, you change the route entirely, you won't be on a route anymore, just free riding, which is fine if that's what you want to do, but won't complete the course for you. Hope that's what you meant.

    Hi this may seem like silly or weird question but here goes. Why do I have all these friend requests from all these people that I don’t know and people that don’t know me? Does zwift give you some type of badge or XP points based on how many friends that you have?

  • @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    @EverythingIsPhotogenic

    3 жыл бұрын

    Lol no, no extra points or anything - although you do get a badge for getting 100 ride ons in a single ride. This happens for a couple reasons... Maybe you've ridden in a group ride, or race and your performance stood out to someone for whatever reason I.e. strong sprint, maybe you guys were evenly matched in a subgroup etc. Some groups have tight communities and they want to follow each other and support when they see that person is riding. Sometimes it's like Instagram and people want you to follow them back so they follow you first. I thought it was weird too. Before I even had a following on youtube, people randomly followed me. Sometimes it was because I was active in Facebook groups but some were just completely random. Now I'm used to it especially because people find me from here. It's actually kind of nice to get a random ride on from someone encouraging you, especially when you're re working hard. There's so little private data there that no one is going it to be weird or stalkerish... It's just a very excited and social community. Every once in awhile, you'll find out someone cool is following you 😎

    Yeah, the reward system in Zwift is kind of bonkers to be honest. The best unlocks are all available pretty early on in the game with no real incentive after level 30 or so. At that point levels and drops are all about Ego. I have every bike and wheel pairing that is the best combination for all the different courses plus a few that were just fun and have 6 million drops. They really need to put some stuff in the drop shop that we can spend it on to make it a little more fun. I love Zwift, it makes indoor training tolerable, but it was so much more fun when I was still working toward unlocking this stuff, it was a little extra motivation to do a few more miles or one more climb... now it's just ticking off miles. They have to be cognizant of that and have new developments forthcoming for higher level riders... the running joke is that these developments are coming "zoon." Things have been a little quiet from the Zwift team these days, makes me wonder if something is in the works... they really need to rebuild the UI... that would really open up a lot of programming flexibility for them. They could add new skins, unlocks, styles etc in a few hours rather than the months it takes to get even the most basic updates.

    Yeah you have to do it in the beginning before you take off or once the event ends. It does work in meetups and I when you are riding with pace partners. It wasn't always that way, I am not sure if they will bring that functionality back or not. I am not really sure why they took it away to begin with, probably some sort of programming constraint, it seems punitive otherwise and for what good reason? The You're popular badge? Its a little stripped down at the moment but it's stable. Not sure what Zwifts plans are to expand the functionality, but some of it has to come from Apples end, more connections need to be allowed on newer models, and making their keyboard interface with the program (that's partially on Zwift) will be a game changer for ATV.
