Thanks! I think its a great option especially if you know you would be happy transferring to UChicago. It shows you are committed to and excited about the school. Since its new, there probably isnt data on who it is more geared towards, but I think if you want to transfer to UChicago, you should definitely consider it!

It seems college apps are just like job interviews. At least, there is tremendous overlap.

Hi Alison! Thank you for the great tips. I am apply to a college I applied to during my senior year in high school but got rejected from. I was wondering, did you mention in your application that you had applied before? Because I am being asked this question and I am not sure if it will affect my chances so I might say no. Any advice?

Thanks! And yes I mentioned it in my application. It will likely already be apparent to them that you are applying for the 2nd time because you will already have a profile with them, but I dont think it hurts to emphasize that you are very interested in XYZ school as demonstrated by the fact that you applied previously.

What if u are transferring from CC not Uni?

hi! thank you for sharing such insightful advice! i’m also a student at a large public university considering transferring into smaller public schools. i’m actually currently on a gap year during which i plan to apply as a transfer! i was wondering for the rec letters, i should start reaching out to the professors who i’ve emailed a few times or gone to office hours even for once and tell them about my situation even though i’m not in their class anymore... and if so how i should approach if you have any advice on that too!

Hey thanks for watching! I would try to re-kindle the relationship with your professors via zoom/in person meetings. I would have an open conversation with them, and they will likely understand your reasons for transferring. It will be better to ask for the rec letter in person versus over email as well. Good Luck!

Is it ok to mention in your essay that you are transferring to these school (specifically talking about the ivies) due to their generous financial aid package, that my school may not necessarily be providing full coverage on? Of course I am mentioning this along the essay and not the first primary thing to write. Thanks
