    This is so true! One of the afternoon teachers has started giving a few of my students who are currently potty training and M&M every time they go to the potty. I tried asking her to please not do this because I’ve noticed that a couple of them are saying they went to the potty when they actually haven’t just to get an M&M. I also asked her to please try to not do that because I want them to realize that going to the bathroom is something everybody does and when you get to be a big kid, you just do it. No one else is getting a prize for going potty. That was something I stuck with with my own kids too. And they both were potty trained very quickly. One thing I know I for sure need to work on is expecting them to understand things. I’ve had to really slow down and simplify what I’m saying and make sure that it’s clear to them and I’m not just talking like one of the grown-ups on Charlie Brown. Lol

    I’m new to childcare. I’m on my 3rd week and my BIGGEST struggle is to get them to clean up. I found that I ended up cleaning the whole classroom myself because they have looked at me and said I don’t want to clean up and I had no idea how to respond to that

    It’s funny because before the school year ended I was determined not to use stickers anymore. It was becoming so distracting and some, like you said, didn’t care. Maybe you have a video already, but I would love some tips for how to use the treasure box or incentives ideas. Thank you for the video.

    Changing your classroom around to where they have less space to run and remind them that they can get an ouwe if they keep running sometimes you may need to let them learn the lesson the hard way and you use it as an example of why we use feet

    What if there is no ample space for running but enough resources and still sometimes kids run. Also, they stack the toys and keep throwing them. My TA is mostly busy with toilets so when am doing focused activity, the rest of the children are roaming here and there and sometimes fighting over a toy. Whats the best environment with pre K in classroom? Should they be sitting and playing calmlt all the day? if not, How to manage with TA?

    I have the PreK class from hell. We review the rules every day to no avail. They’re loud, don’t clean up when told, they cannot sit on circle carpet to save their lives. They tattle, name call, hit, break each other’s center builds. They will make eye contact with me and then smile as they do exactly what I told them not to. When I’m in charge, even the good kids start to act bad. It’s just to effing much for me 😞

    I am so sorry to hear about the struggles you are having in your class. The first year (or two) is usually the hardest until you get your bearings. I've been there myself and it always looks and feels hopeless when you're in the middle of it. I hope that your administrators will be able to get you the hands-on help you need. Feel free to DM me on IG to discuss this further and maybe we can come up with a plan or next steps that could alleviate some of these concerns.

    What do you do when you have a student who screams words during circle time? He's 5, he can talk by his age range, he used to have selective mutism. The parents aren't cooperative and say he doesn't scream at home.

    I mean it kinda sucks for that last one because kids can be arguing because they just want to argue over a toy. Like we have magnetiles and we want to get them out but it’s so hard because they don’t know how to share even though they have a ton of other toys to play with. And even though we can show are kids how to be quiet or use our level 1 voices and tell them. 2 minutes later they be loud again. At some points I think our room is hopeless.

  • @yourco-teacherms.celeste5530

    @yourco-teacherms.celeste5530

    aww....I wouldn't say hopeless. Maybe it's a matter of teaching and demonstrating to them "how" to share-like what it looks like or maybe teaching and demonstrating to them what it looks like to "take turns"...if you'd like to brainstorm ideas- please reach out to me in the Dm's on IG. 🙂

    @@yourco-teacherms.celeste5530 or just come and teach our kids. We already are about to have to have a kid be sent home and be sent back with medication. Like he can’t come back with out being medicated. And we’ve told them how to take turns. Even by making centers. Nothing works. Giving more options Nah that don’t work. I’m just waiting for these kids to go so I can get the next batch 🥹😂 that sounds mean but I want new kids. Like I’ve been bitten scratched clawed choked. You name it. I’ve wanted to quit. But I keep going. I just haven’t found anything that works. We need like a real professional
