the makeshift pie looked banging!!..my preference wuld be go a bit lighter on the veg i the pie,a bit more sauce in the pie,and accomplishment of saute or baked spud
Considering the economy right now, PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS 😭
Winging it is how I learned to cook. Think about what you want and make it with what you like. You'll be surprised what you actually can make that you enjoy
Every once in a while I realize i need to clear out the pantry, refrigerator &/or freezer of random things. Some of those random meals have been my favorites! Not only do you have to get creative, but it can also get you out of a rut... actually eating the leftovers of one of those meals right now 😋. Well done, Taz. You're becoming a proper cook!

yes we all go to do the brutal non-rotation run down and clear out from time to time. I've got about 3kg of porridge oats to run down, so obviously porridge is on the menu, but I'll be doing some flapjacks and meal for something a bit random like haggis
I will officially be trying out the pie when im paid on the 6th, these videos are genuinely so helpful for me because i do often live life on an extremely low budget. Thankyou Taz for being you and for doing these kind of videos
My tip for opening jars that are difficult is to run the lid under the hot tap. Dry it and then it’ll be so much easier.

Yes hot water on metal lid for 30s or so, dry off and opens easy - due to heat causing metal to expand a little away from jar - physics!!

Also turn the jar upside down on a chopping board and wedge a regular table knife between the lid to break the suction seal.

Jam the flat end of a small spoon/fork at an acute angle under the lid and then flatten the angle. This way you can easily unseal the vaccum.

Easy way to make it a lot easier is to hit the sides of the jar lid with the side of a spoon all around several times and it becomes so much easier. :D

for safe sake, keep the knife away from the lids guys 😂😂😂😂
I AM SO WAITING for the day when you realize you don't have to be so modest and are confident enough to declare: "I created a recipe." Because even if you were just winging it with everything, that's how recipes are created ;)
will i ever stop getting happy when I see taz posted? NO Ahh I love her videos! Thank you taz for making them
For any future tries, if you have a sauce jar that's difficult to open, try turning it upside down and hitting the bottom so the sauce moves towards the top and there's sauce covering the top part of the jar and not air. It makes opening the jar easier.
Taz’s taste buds is really changing I remember her being scared to make lasagna due to the white sauce because its dairy. So proud!!
I think it would be interesting to try a specific recipie from all and get the same ingredients so you can compare easier.
You should let your friend pick the ingredients then you cook them a dish from the ingredients and get there reaction, like ready steady cook 😅
More of these please, love watching them!!!
I love these type of videos from taz. We need more of them!!!
The way I screamed YES when I saw you posted! Love your videos Taz😭
When you can’t open a jar, stab the middle of the lid with a knife. It has a slight rise in the lid, stab there and it will release the lid and you can easily open. Honestly works! I do it all the time and never struggle anymore xx

Only if you plan on using the whole jar, if you will only be using a bit, use a blunt instrument (I use the handle of a knife) and dent it a few times, works the same but keeps the lid air tight.

A safer option in to tap the side of the lid firmly against the countertop all the way around
@minasawi

you can also push a knife or something else under the edge of the lid and break the seal with that

please dont stab the lid with a knife 😅, just lightly tap the lid and apply pressure while turning the lid slowly. be careful guys
Taz for jar opening using a butter knife push it up the side of the lid and twist slightly this also releases the pressure but leaves you with a reusable jar so you don't need to use all the contents Btw awesome vid as always ❤
Tap the side of the lid firmly against the countertop. Works all the time.
One thing I particularly enjoy about these budget challenges is that you need to be innovative with the ingredients you can buy and use them in different ways.
I love the budget challenges. It is really hard to cook for one person at a budget. I love that you were able to do that.
i'm so happy these budget videos r back, i love them so much, these videos r the ones that got me hooked on ur videos some 4 years ago taz during covid
A great video Taz please do more budget videos
loving the content lately, Taz! keep it up
Loving the active era Taz ❤❤
You did well Taz and I’m impressed how fast you learned and realised what the pit falls are. There is a guy Mike on the Atomic Shrimp channel who has made lots of these videos who has come to many of the same conclusions. How annoying it is to buy for one meal, economy of scale, getting lucky with offers, not being able to buy one onion, having to adapt to any opportunity you find rather than going in with a plan etc. so be proud how much you picked up on from your short experiment. I’d recommend checking out some of his videos too as he made some amazing things out of seemingly thin air and there is useful cooking information in there.

I love Atomic Shrimps channel! I'm always amazed what he manages to come up with
I love watching these! Thank you Taz your videos actually give me some food ideas
More of these pleaseeeee. It really helps us students with our meals.
Hi Taz! Such a great video
You were SO creative with your meals, it was so fun to see! Please more videos like this, I loved it!!!❤️
Always happy to see Taz and her videos 👍 !! Love this idea and the recipes you came up with !! 👏
We love budget Taz, it brings out your creative flow.
This was a lovely video, thanks Taz! I love a budget meal challenge, and I love that you didn't go for the simplest options, you actually challenged yourself! And it worked out so well, well done you 😊🏵️♥️
Cheap protein idea - a can of beans - blank, white, garbanzo, pinto, etc. Always can be found for cheap and go in practically anything.
taz really be eating anything LOL
ClickForTaz, you are doing honest work and hopefully influencing a lot of people with your channel. Also, believe people when they tell you how they feel. You are a good human sharing and showing good information other people. I should buy your poetry book to support you but when can I just give you a small donation. You are missing your thanks button. I'd rather just give you a couple of bucks.
A really good video!!! Would love another one of these x.
I’m so impressed with your pie and actually it reminds us that we don’t have to follow some complicated 50 step guide to make a nice home made pie. Really well done ❤
I would love to see you try a basic cooking challenge and what I mean by that is to try making homemade white sauce etc. It’s actually a lot easier then you think as you only need plain flour, milk, butter and a little salt, although I use a little chicken stock powder instead of salt but you do what works for you. Once you’ve learnt how to make that you’ll be able to make a lot with that basic knowledge. I really enjoy watching you do these challenges, you always surprise me 😀
Woah Ready, Steady, Cook! That's a flashback! I was in the audience for the Aussie version of the show 😅 Good work Taz!! Thriving and surviving ❤ Also hot tip for jar opening either bang it on the top/sides of the lid or use a spoon gently under the lid to break the vacuum on the seal and then it will easily pop off
The best thing about this Taz is you filmed it so you can watch it to do it again!
Ready steady cook was my fav show when i was young too.
Loveee the challenge videos!!
Love you taz and your awkward vloging ! You make me smile every video, thank you. ❤
tip for opening jars -- run the top under very hot water. hot water "expands" the material, making it easier to open. works like a charm for me every time. or you can get silicone pads to get a good grip and open jars easily. similar concept, you can get a thick rubber band and put it around the lid to give yourself extra grip to open it
I love these videos . Reminded me of budget eats thanks
Loving all of your food videos! 😊❤
These videos are so good and the pie was genius, defo gonna try a version of that xx
omg i havent watched taz in ages i forgot how much i loved her content
Thank you taz for keeping me company while I do my washing at a laundromat 😅💗
Taz, your videos always make my day. Thank you for uploading.
Taz don't forget canned veg! especially for one use, and especially if adding seasoning it works. Also if you have a thick rubber band (some produce comes with) put around jar lids for extra grip.
One simple way to amp up the flavor with a single seasoning is put it in right after the garlic. The hot oil will help with extraction of the flavor, seeping the flavor throughout your dish❤
loved this! budget recipe tip - making a savoury quiche! you have so many meals, can freeze some of it, can be eaten both cold (fave!) and warm and also you can put whatever you have in the fridge or freezer that needs to be used up :)
*Can you do a budget challenge with Lidl vs Aldi?* 🙊
You did a good job with these. For a cheap cheat's sauce for the pie filling, use a tin of cream of chicken or mushroom soup. Chickpeas, beans and lentils all work well as cheap proteins (you can also use them to make meat go further, e.g. chicken and chickpea curry or add kidneys or lentils to a bolognese sauce).
idk if anyone has commented this yet but for next time, tip: cream of something soup. if you take a can of cream of something (like cream of mushroom, cream of spinach etc.) soup, you can use that in pies or casseroles!
More of these vids please! ❤️🔥
Loved it! Would love to see more challenges❤❤
This looks delish! Nicely done!!
Please do the country challenge by making authentic Pakistani dishes like Butter Chicken or Nihari using authentic masala/spices. I know it is hard to find so many spices so use local recipe mixes like 'Shan' which is available across the UK, love to see that.
If anyone in Australia, is wondering, yes, you can do this for $10 at Woolies and Coles, you just have to swap the jar of white sauce for gravox cheese sauce, and buy chicken from the deli.
The first choices for the Sainsbury's challenge sound great! Definitely a very creative selection 😊
We used to make couscous with cup of soup packs all the time, it’s a great way to flavour it easily!! Love it
For tight lids on jars just get a spoon and using the tip or the end of the spoon lift up the lid a bit. It'll make a popping sound and it'll be easier to open.
Who said homemade had to be expensive, love this! Even though jacket potato cheese and beans is always my fallback haha
please do other supermarkets!! this was a great video!
Great video idea. With the pie you could of used a tin of mushroom soup for the sauce. It might of been cheaper. But you did brilliantly. Would like to see more of these.
All three of the recipies seem so delicipus omg. Love your budget videos taz!!!
I was thinking the other day after watching you try middle eastern recipe, “taz have been trying many recipes from lots of countries, her budget challenge will be much much better now since she is much experience in the kitchen” ❤ way to go Taz 🎉
Oh this was fun to watch! And winging it is the way, at least for most of my meals anyway :D
love it when she post!! x
for someone who says they're not a good cook, it's pretty impressive to pick out random things-- in the store, no less-- and make meals from it! good work!
I really liked this idea of video - kinda like a freshness for the budget challenge
I'm always late to watch taz but she's just so comforting to watch
Loved it! You can choose one recipe and buy the same ingredients in different supermarkets
I love these videos so much but PLEASE start reading the instructions - you do not empty microwave rice into a bowl to heat it, you tear the corner of the packet and put the packet in the microwave to steam the rice 😂
My BEST tip for tricky jars is banging the lid on the counter. Works EVERY time. My life hasn't been the same since i learned this!
Kinda off topic, but I love your hair here, Taz! 💛💛
that pie looks so good, i want to eat it so bad , its like one of those things u look at and u just know 100 percent that they're gonna be amazing and homey
Love these kind of videos
Your cooking skills have come a long way! You’re more confident with ya pans these days! 😊
To get the lids off jars use the hook bit on a standard tin opener, hook it over the side and lift to pop the seal, works every time
This is so nostalgic because i only first discovered taz when she did her first 1 pound challenge. So this is ❤
My best tip for opening jars: use a rubber band! Put it around the lid and twist, it’ll have more traction so the lid will be easier to get off.
Love your creativity ❤
I’d love to see someone do this but with only free from foods! The struggle for us with celiac, milk allergies & egg allergies are a hell of a lot worse for someone who can go get “normal” foods😫
A tip for the jar lids tap the lid at an angle so the rim hits the surface hit it a few times around the rim and it will open with no struggle!!
i do love these
HiTaz, good buy for your chicken pot pie, but instead of buying your white sauce, you could of used a chicken cream soup for less of the price of cream sauce.
Best way to open a lid is to put something under the edge of the lid to release the pressure. A butter knife works fine, and then you will hear a pop and the lid will easily come off.
The pie and the green Thai curry looks amazing!
the only way i could be happy with the fact i can be a good friend is to have someone who is nice and nice
Please do tesco, aldi and asda!
Taz, the white lasagna sauce was actually very clever. Typically the white sauce in lasagna is a bechamel, which is basically a roux (fat plus flour cooked together) with milk added, though presumably the jar had some stabilizer/preservative added. The sauce in a chicken pot pie is usually roux-based, too, though typically the liquid is chicken stock, not milk. Either way, very similar end result, so your shortcut wasn't 'crazy' at all.
Love a Taz budget vid. 😊
If you do not have a jar opener then save rubber bands. Then when you need to open a jar put the rubber band around the rim and it will let you get a better hold on jar lid and open easier. Poor mans trick. lol
Love these budgets! Hope u keep doing more!
If you’re struggling to open a jar, run the lid under hot water for a few seconds. Or you can also use a damp towel to help you grip the lid better (:

Or just bang the side of the lid on the floor or counter. It breaks the seal.
4:56 I use the butter knife for stubborn jars. Wedge the knife between the lid and the thread and turn or lift it slightly to let some air in. Opens easily every time 🙃
