I'm 5'2" also and went salt and pepper 6 yrs ago. I didn't want a short style so I played around with updos and have figured out that high buns are indeed the best for me. I want to add that you need to remember your profile when picking a flattering hair style...great video 💚

I am petite and I LOVE my waistline long hair. Sorry, I will not cut it. However, I noticed that "updos" seem to look very good on me. Maybe because they give the illusion that I am taller. Because of my tall forehead, some people think I should cover it with hair. Sorry, I don't like getting acne on my forehead, I don't like to feel the hairtips tickling me and I don't want to spend my time trying to tame my hair and trying to convince it to look exactly like a Vulcanian "bretton". :-) Now I see that you also mentioned updos. Thank you for thinking about the people who like wearing long hair!

Me too, I'm 5'0 and I have hair down to the middle of my hips and I love it (it has some waves and little curls, especially when I braid it), not going back and people would be surprised how much easier it is to manage compared to shorter or mid length hair. Nothing but compliments.

Do what makes you feel good! I think all the petite tips are great but on the flip side I'm not a fan of all the rules. We should be happy wearing and looking how we want despite height. I'll wear whatever I want at the end of the day even if it makes me look the size of an 8 year old. Pick and choose what works for you.

We all remember Shakira, don't we? She's 5'2 as well and her voluminous long curls were so gorgeous! I never thought it would make her head look too big or anything like that. We should ask men if they prefer petites with long wild curls or a straight short bob.

I'm 4'11.5" not one time have I said "oh my head looks big today". Long hair does not make a "petite" person look like they have a "big head". Also, short hair has nothing to do with height, it has to do with face frame. Y'all, just be confident in who you are. It doesn't matter if you're short, tall, skinny, fat; you are your beautiful you.

I wish I had seen some curly hair in this video. I only saw curly hair when you were using it as an example of too much volume. Many petites, like myself, have curly hair, that can grow up and outward, and will just naturally be voluminous. I still found value in the video and love all your videos!

Hair texture plays a big role. I have curly frizzy hair that needs weight and I am 5'2". If it's a certain short length, it is way to "big" and frizzy. Now it's not down to my waist but a Bob would not work for my texture unless I was a slave to a blow dryer, straightening iron, and living in Alaska (no humidity). You have gorgeous hair tho!

🦋 Ecclesia: You go, girl! 💙Love long hair on women (and some men too like Brad Pitt😉). Hate that when you turn a certain age that society pressures both sexes to hack it off !✂️ 🌟Jane Seymour & her long luxurious locks are still an inspiration for me. Although my hair is super fine & wavy in comparison to her thick layers. Used to torture mine with curling implements & styling products, but I finally gave up on forcing it. Feel like 💪Samson from the Bible〰️ as if a lot of my ⚡power is in my hair. The few times I had short cuts, I felt like a shorn sheepdog who is all awkward & embarrassed😔. It certainly felt as if my femininity 🔥 💦 was extinguished 🚒. My length is about the same as Chi's, but I use a tiny alligator clip to hold it up, off my face in the front like a Victorian era schoolgirl. When I turned 30, I started to get threads of silver in that very front under-layer that are now all white 20+ years later. Otherwise, I remain about 98% dark brown. 🤗I get a surprising amount of unsolicited approval on my hair from young men who like the length & natural color. Women generally make snarky comments about how going natural wouldn't work for them, but I do live in youth obsessed LA. 💚 Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

This video was SO helpful and had lots of great insights and suggestions - Thank you!!! I'm 5'2 also and have had a very short pixie cut for 10 years now and have absolutely loved it. However, the pandemic changed my lifestyle, to your point in your video. I didn't have the option to get my hair cut every 3 weeks like I had been and I now work from home with only a little video-call interaction with fellow colleagues. As such, I have little to no interest in maintaining a pixie cut and am looking for something that is easier to maintain but doesn't make me look shorter than I am. I am going to miss my pixie a lot but I'm really over the in-between periods I've been battling with the last few years and need something easier.

What a darling family you are! My friends and relatives nagged me for years to grow out my bangs, so I finally did it. But my hair grows straight over my face, that why I had them, and just ended up wearing a boring thin plastic headband every day. I think it does lengthen my oval, but fleshy face. When I lost too much weight ten years ago, I did get my bony face back, but was it ever wrinkled, my neck, too.

This is a great topic! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone address this before. So thanks for thinking of fresh, new content for petites! That really sets you apart. I do agree with some other commenters that this video only really considers petites with straight hair. Petites with curly, coily, and kinky hair aren’t really going to be able to follow this advice. Please just keep this in mind when you are doing videos about things that are not universal across all people groups and even within one people group. If discussing things like hair, eye, or skin color, consider the diversity of your viewers and incorporate them all - or at least explicitly acknowledge that you’re only speaking to a subset of them (since you’re obviously not going to be an expert on things that don’t apply to you unless you take the time to research them). That said, great video!

Thank you so much for these helpful tips. I'm 5'3 and my body type is an inverted triangle (broad shoulders and small hips) with hip dips and short legs... It's soooo hard to look pretty and chic with this type of body 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Just in time! Going for a trim/haircut today! I have soft wavy hair have let it grow up to my shoulders length. I have tons of fine wavy hair people at the office with fine hair would always say something in the elevator and men too some said was sexy. Ok?! Lol! Don’t know about that but yeah lots of volume on this 5’3 smurf. I like the length now as when gardening I can pick it up all off the face. I have the Conair big curls hardly use it but it does create shine and nice soft curls on special occasion I think I might start using again once a week. Don’t like the heat on modern hair irons they’ll destroy hair. This one is gentle the best. Been checking out what other gadgets are new out here to get one?

I am 1.62m tall, I have a squared face with a pretty strong jawline and blunt chin. I have narrow-ish to normal sized shoulders but they are bigger than my hips (they're real narrow). I also have curly hair with straighter, more flat roots and love some hair volume. So because of all of this my head looks big in comparison with my body. I struggle with all hair styles except medium length, layered ones. I've not seen many people with these characteristics yet so it's a pain. 😅

I am 5 2 but I need the layers because my hair hangs and is fine. I like the bounce of layers. It looks worst without layers. But, shoulder length or a bit a higher is good .

Can short women wear prints or large prints? I’m am getting more into prints to cover up the weight I started carrying and larger cloths for full coverage and complete eye distraction lol - I’ve learned a lot from you. Although it’s hard to look tall when your growing sideways and your UndeR 5’!!! Yes girl! Ouch - under 5! I think showing every lump and bump is tough. Ugh

I have a question. What if my hair is actually curly? Y'know, curly hair has a loooot of volume. At the moment, it's pretty much shoulder length, but btw, I don't really think it fits my heart-shaped face shape haha. So, how can I style my curly, kinda puffy hair to make it look good with my face shape and my shortness? :( I also feel like my head looks bigger and I don't like that 😭😭💔

I have a round face and curly hair. She is right about short hair on petites and that includes those with curly hair. Obviously, we can't pull off any of those hair cuts but the correct curly cut will make a difference. Make sure you do good research to find a good curly hairstylist with a portfolio of pictures you like. I thought short hair didn't look good on me, I had a good curly cut a few months ago just up to my chin and I loved it. Now my hair is by my shoulders and will let it grow some more but not past my chest. I do think women with long curly hair it does make them look shorter with big heads.

I am 5'2" and have very curly quickly turning grey hair. I have found a hairdresser that is very good with curly hair and that has helped. I wear my up in a bun probably 60% of the time. I feel like it compliments my face and keeping my hair off my face and neck helps with hot flashes.

@@tenaciousone4721 yes, it depends how good you feel about it. In my case, because I have a round face my face looks better with my hair down. There are styles for curly hair to keep your hair off your face. I follow @manesbymell for curly advice, she is the best!

Tami O’Connell- I’m Asian like Chi. I can’t speak for her but I can understand wavy hair a little (cause I curl my hair once in a while) but I don’t understand curly hair (so that’s probably why she doesn’t really have examples of curly hair). I think her general tips apply to most hair types though.
