In the NBA, your ability to play defense is the separator. Not saying anyone can play offense but unless you are at Steph Curry's level offensively, being shorter than 6'6 becomes a problem defensively more often than not and the offense productivity is usually never enough to offset that liability. That said I wish this young man a bright future and to prove everyone including people like me dead wrong. Maybe he can be the next Spud Webb or his own thing and goes all the way and then some! Proud to see a fellow pinoy showcase such great ability!
@playerone3885

Even if he becomes an NBA all-star, it doesn't make any of what you said wrong. It just makes him an exception who beat the odds. Under 6'6 guys do struggle defensively, but there are exceptions like Tony Allen, Avery Bradley and CP3. Not to mention you basically HAVE to play point at that height and can't see over the PnR. I wish this kid the best just based on the fact that he seems fun as hell to watch.

Best vertical I ever saw was a skinny filipino kid in Hawaii with his arm in a cast. Braddah was under six feet, jumping out of the gym and dunking over us easy peasy.
I played with a 5 foot 4 Filipino in Representative Basketball in Australia back in the 90s. He was able to reverse or tomahawk dunk on someone, always had at least 4 to 5 dunks per game. I wish we had mobile phones back then.

The shortest player ever to play in the National Basketball Association, the 5 ft 3 in Bogues played point guard for four teams during his 14-season career in the NBA. Proud Filipino here kid. Yess sirrrr stay humble u got da drip my guy
Many Filipinos are just born jealous, no matter how great this kid is, his fellow Filipinos will always make sure to find fault in his game just so they can justify their own failures. Whenever I see a fellow Filipino who has the potential to make it far and actually succeed, I just shut my mouth, just support him/her no matter what. I don't give out any damning opinion or any stupid unsolicited advice, I just see the person as better than I am, therefore they don't need one from me period. What they need are prayers and support. A lot of people mention Spud Webb, and Mugsy bouges making it into the NBA, but that was a completely different era, the game has changed since then and has become more unforgiving towards shorter players. Isiaiah Thomas 5'9, Chris Clemons 5'9, Tyler Ulis 5'9, Junior Robinson 5'5. These players have been proven to be able to dominate any league outside the NBA, yet have been passed on by the NBA. Not trying to be negative, but unless he's a good cut better than these guys I think chances are very low.

I, Jesse Carrington, am a Filinegro who had some potential as a youth with quite a few Team MVP honors in basketball for my city league teams and was later a champion on several occasions with my school teams, but this brother is by far more than twice as skilled as I was. It took me two consecutive games to drop a top personal total of 51 points which was done in the city recreational league that I played for whereby Lorence Dela Cruz did it in ONE game (and that was in high school). Not only that, but he also had a 67 point game in high school! I am so proud of this genius Pinoy boy, Lorence Dela Cruz, with his 4.0 GPA and so forth and so on. Lorence is definitely a cool nerd representin'! Word! Personally, I had above a 4.0 Academic GPA with a 4.2 Academic GPA specifically during grade 11. By the way, my cousin, Rowland Roda, played in the FIBA League. I am definitely a proud FIlinegro fellow. UHYUHYAY! I think that Lorence Dela Cruz can definitely take his brilliant skills to the NBA.
