Not really, he is appealing to the high court now, the Judge who dissented in his favour is one of the most experienced and respected in all of Australia, the two judges who upheld the verdict basically said we believe survivors, an accuser=guilt. They studied too much at Kafka. The facts haven`t changed.

  • @reviewreviewer1

Sole dissenter out of a total of 3 judges in total, but more importantly, a dissenter whose judgement is highly valued, and will likely be considered by the High court. But in the end this of secondary importance, since it is not about opinion. Pell has the facts on his side. Arguing that a single accuser constitutes proof beyond a reasonable doubt violates any presumption of innocence and makes it easy for the government to persecute its enemies. It is especially dangerous when the police had been looking for people to accuse Pell even before any complaints had been filed. Government officials looked for accusers against a man they didn`t like. They found an accuser and he was convicted based on that. In a secret trial with a gag order. I suggest you read about the Stalinist show-trials. Or the trial against Stepinic. It took around 70 years before Stepinac was legally exonerated. So how is it cognitively idiotic to argue that a single accuser does not constitute proof beyond a reasonable doubt? Also look up Mark Weinberg`s record. Read his dissent. If you had lived half a century ago you would have liked defended the trial against Mindszenty.

Cardinal Pell waffled on this question - over and over. There's no good Christian answer for the suffering of innocents in the world. Saying that Jesus suffered too doesn't answer the question. The answer is God is either a sadist or God is impotent, or God doesn't exist.

God has an unconditional love to us, in order to give that love, he gives us a free will, and there is a free will there is a suffering. We live in the world that are so complex and there is so much evil in this world. Its starts when we disobey God.

Benjo - please tell, witch god? Who's religion? What book? And so on... It is what you have been told by your parents, your surroundings, your culture. All of them reflect the traditions, the fears, the lack of knowledge of the area they come from. What all Religions do, is pray on the fears and hopes and insecurities and guilds and different character triads of human beings. Human nature is human nature - except that bad people will do bad things and good people will do good things - but for good people to do bad things - you need religion!

Homosexuality is of course natural, because it is frequently observed in nature, nearly all mammal species have homosexual individuals. Clearly, you have no idea what you are talking about, you should consider reading scientific papers on this subject. You just state what you think, but this is irrelevant as there is evidence for the contrary. It also makes sense if you look at it from an evolutionary perspective, which you would know if you would study these things before talking about it.

For a hypothesis to be a scientific hypothesis, the SCIENTIFIC METHOD requires that one can TEST IT … Even though the words "hypothesis" and "theory" are often used synonymously, a scientific hypothesis is NOT the same as a scientific theory.”_* Hypothesis is also referred to as a Hypothetical or Educated GUESS. Wikipedia 2021, *_"In evolutionary biology, abiogenesis, or informally the origin of life (OoL),is the natural process by which life has arisen from non-living matter, such as simple organic compounds. While the details of this process ARE STILL UNKNOWN, the prevailing scientific HYPOTHESIS is that the transition from non-living to living entities was not a single event [i.e. spontaneous generation]... There are several principles and HYPOTHESES for how abiogenesis COULD HAVE occurred."_* One of the reasons that abiogensis is merely a "hypothesis" and has not advanced to the status of being a "scientific theory", is that abiogenesis hypotheses still lack the experimental data required by the scientific method. Abiogenesis Hypothesis has passed the scientific method process zero (0) times.

Greg, then your belief is your ticket out of this hell. Any place that has suffering as the norm in all kingdoms, Animal, vegetable, must by definition of suffering be hell. We suffer for our whole lives, work sleep, eat, repeat with occasional snippets of joy to keep us motivated to keep going. I can’t wait to leave this prison planet.

@@abracadeborah7855 And what do you think will happen after you die? Some magic sugar Daddy is waiting to keep you in nice comfort? Babies, Children die here on earth, some of them horribly, raped & Killed, go hungry, accidents, evil people and God doesn't do anything to help them but as soon as YOU die, you get to live the easy good life? But Hinduism does say that you can have the easy good life - as a Tree or a pet - dog or cat. The tree sits around doing nothing all day - so does a pet - zero worries or responsibilities - enjoy!

Have you ever wondered that life is an opportunity? You have been given this Gift of life - think of what good you can do to make life better for all Einstein, Gandhiji, Michalangelo and so many unknowns the police, soldiers, doctors, firefighters - all instead of running away from a dangerous place, run towards it Life is bad but running away is not the answer It is one answer though - but so many are fools to think there is a nice Sugar Daddy waiting to keep them in nice comfort in Heaven

Does believing in God make the world a better place? Most say no... But nobody has ever lived in a world where there is no belief in God.. The belief in a spiritual being is very common in our world across a wide range of religions and still provides direction to millions about doing what is good and fair. Take out the belief in a superior spiritual being and what happens?

  • @paradigmbuster

A lot of the sentiment regarding suffering comes from unbelief in God's promise to end all suffering. If the spiritual eye can see the promise it makes a big difference. Since God is just, he provides free choice to us. The earth is a temporary place where we can learn to choose or not choose eternal life. If no place were provided where there is space for repentance that would be merciless. People disbelieve only because of unbelief, not because if evil in the world. David Burchfield

Apparently, in Hitler's words he did not get close to the Christianity as it was introduced to Europe from another part of the world (the middle east) and not part of his heritage. It appears he was closer to pagan beliefs.

"Christianity was introduced".. that sounds nice.. And I thought christianity spread to europe just like it spread to all other parts of the globe: by genocides (massacre of verden), wars, disgusting brainwashing etc etc.. Please dont stop fooling yourself: There is no antisemitism in paganism, compare that to the jew pigs on catholic german cathedrals or Martin Luthers writings about jews. 95% of all germans were christians between 1933-45. And you think somehow some pagans lured those good nice christians into doing what christians did althrough history? Get your damn head checked sshole

Allen Jones in reply...on your comment below, re: the suffering of the innocents. How do YOU contribute to stop the suffering, that you mention. What do you do as a concerned and worried person, whom this existence of suffering bothers? How do you live your everyday life, so that your lifestyle, diminishes suffering. Because you and l are to blame for the suffering of the "innocents"...we don't live 'holy ' lives, that when people see your face and my face, the beauty of Christ doesn't shine out on to others, to convert them. Our beauty doesn't 'convert ' them, because we are ugly inside... sinful.

"Religion shouldn't be taken literally - it's just guidance. This is what creates conflict." Probably the BEST bit of advice we can get from this video.

  • @absoutezeo2126

    @absoutezeo2126

Some guidance it is then. Why take seriously at all a book that condones slavery, endorses genocide and killing children, treats a woman as 2/3 the value of a man, and so on? Guidance is the genuine effort of a wise individual to support and teach another, it is not blind, uncivil tradition sloppily passed along from barely literate cultists in the desert. If you want guidance, start asking questions, don't look for easy answers from people who want to spread their "truth." This goes for fundamentalists and moderates, for the more moderate you become, the less you're relying on religion yet the more you're attributing to it.
