I love checking out new tattoo machines. Today I had the pleasure of checking out the 5.0mm Stroke version of the Critical torque and the new Prime x Critical Collab tattoo pen machine. Both machines I have tattooed with for a very short amount of time this past week. My full review of both tattoo machines will be out within the next month or so.

Tattoo machines can be very expensive. The torque is double the price of the full set of the prime pen. I think its important to focus on your skills and understanding of how to put ink into the skin, and drawing as much as you can as a tattoo artist instead of worrying about what the best tattoo machine is for shading, or what is the best tattoo machine for a beginner. As a beginner tattoo artist you should be thinking about how to make your line work clean, or how to make you shading smooth.
Tattoo machines are tools, and yes they do make tattooing easier if you have a good machine. At the end of the day it is up to the skill of the tattoo artist.

We uploaded our videos on this machine literally at the same time 😂 I didn’t get the new torque though 5mm is insane! Keep up the good work!

@@adamdarklord dude this is my first one in a month lol I’m burnt out too. Kinda took a break so hopefully I get back to it soon. I was doing once a week for a while too. It’s like a full time job lol

We definitely need a 4.2 Stroke showdown. (PRIME VS WAND VS TORQUE) Obviously all the same family brands… maybe a sorta (Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic) type rankings. I personally have the Wand Packer and Liner. Also the 3.5 Torque and just recently the 4.2 Torque. I thought nothing would even beat out the 4.2 Packer for me… however after using the 4.2 Torque for the last month…. It feels a little smoother and harder hitting than the packer. Which I’m loving. (IMO) Yes pls give us a showdown for the 4.2s and the 5.0s!!!! Please! As a Pacific Island Tribal artist… the 5.0 is a MUST HAVE in my arsenal and need to know more about the 5.0 Torque!

3.5 stroke is green
Hi. Just about to get critical torque, any more thoughts on the 5.0 yet? I've been using coils for 15 years, like a hard hitting machine, so this pen machine is tempting me. Any advice?

I have only used it maybe 3-4 times so far. It’s very hard hitting for sure. I’m enjoying it as a liner. If you want more of a cool feel take a look at the vlad blad avenger 2 or 3. The 3 is a wireless version of the 2.
Is this machine good for packing black and lettering? With the 4.2 stroke version?

all machines is, some are just more easy to do it with. Nobody has really used this machine ALOT yet, so impossible to tell.. But, basicly every 4.2mm stroke machine is good for it, they are sort of the same thing in a different houseing.
Bishop wand liner or is this a better one?

It really depends on the style. They are two very different machines. The liner is super hard hitting and this one isnt
That 5m is a monster stroke., haven’t tried either of the critical machines yet. I have ran the bishops I feel like the liner with the big ol 5.0 stroke was a bit aggressive so to speak maybe just me but feels like you gotta be extra careful and keep it moving with that machine… the shader and packer tho !! Definitely felt lot easier n more comfortable running them…. Dunno that’s it 😊 I want to get hold of one of the criticals

I agree. The bishop 5m is very aggressive. You could definitely hurt someone with it. The critical 5m is aggressive for sure but I don’t feel like I’m going to kill my client with it lol

@@ThatTattooGuyOfficial right anything under a 9rl and even that can suspect lol feels like if you slow down your gonna fillet em lol Was scared of the 3&5 in it tho that was a very minimal let’s be extra cautious moment 😂

@@davepantano8142 yes! I liked it for dot work tho. Being able to just tap the skin for those individual dots knowing it went in is nice

@@ThatTattooGuyOfficial can’t argue that one. Quick poke n keep it moving lol. I should try n redo my palm with it just dots for days see if that holds up better than the last time., I also had a another artist do it for me first and he lined it (nordic compass) with a 7rl sculpting/build up lines in your palm blows & only really lasted long enough to heal and faded out 😞 so I went back and ran a billion dots with axys stuck better but still needs to be fixed. Maybe if I blow it thru my hand it’ll stay 🤣 jk jk. That would suck

@@davepantano8142 dots are the only way I get palms and bottom of the feet to stick. My palm is super solid. Only need to touch up a few on it

It really depends on the style you are planning on doing. Your mentor could direct you in that way better because he would know your work.

Not for a bishop wand or fk irons or Cheyenne which are easier to get which I like 👍
