5,000 piece Ravensburger Puzzle "Beneath the Sea" Time Lapse
Ойын-сауық
Completing a 5,000 Ravensburger puzzle over 14 days. It was our first time doing a puzzle this big.
This is NOT a puzzle for beginners, not because of the size, but because of so many similarly shaped pieces and similar colors.
I think that next time, way more containers should be used for further sorting in the beginning. Nonetheless, a good start!
EDIT: Someone asked about how to get a table that big. Well, our table was just too small, so we bought 3 - 2'x4' thin boards from Home Depot and put some rubber on the bottoms and put them together, you can see the boards at the end.

OMGaah! I can't believe you guys took it apart. I just GASPED when I saw that. I just completed a 2k piece puzzle in 6 days. I need to get puzzle glue to glue it together.
Did anybody elses soul drop when they ripped it apart? :'''[

Man I’ve been psyching myself up to try a new 2,000 piece I got as a present since Christmas.
I love this puzzle! It hangs in my bedroom for 2 years now. It has some 3D effect. Really! If you look a little from aside you can see the turtle come out of the picture. The puzzle is alive...
Hello. The last seconds of the video make me cry. After all that work ... :-) I'm assembling the 5000 pieces Brueghel's tower of babel. I can say that the main disvantage of such a big puzzles is the impossibility to lay down all the pieces together on table for searching. For this reason the selection by color and by shape before beginning the puzzle must be refined more than ever. I began the puzzle 3 weeks ago and i think i've put together around 1000 pieces.
I felt pain in my heart as you cleaned it up.
Oh my gosh! Ive watched this video over and over, you did such a great job!!! Plz hurry and do another!
No. Why did they take it apart?! D:

I do that with my puzzles, but they're obviously not that big. If I disassembled something that big I would never do it again, like I'd rather frame it
How to write a sad story. We spent 14 days slaving over that puzzle. When we finished, we agreed to put it back in the box instead of gluing it. NNNNNNOOOOOOO! It can't be true!
5000! Wow! Very nice! Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed watching this!
I love how from 2:03 they open a door in the far left corner of the screen, and you see the light of the sun moving across the room.
I understand putting it away. My grandfather is a puzzle addict and enjoys the biggest puzzles with the smallest pieces and complicated, mind boggling designs, the fun is in building the puzzle more so than its display, although the art and effort are to be admired upon completion. It's like makeup or sandart. The process and labour are a big part of what makes the product beautiful, but nothing good can stay (thanks Robert Frost).

eggrollsoupnova2000 No, the description is a lie, we actually have superpowers and did it in 4 minutes, the camera was barely able to capture us. Our next goal is 3 minutes, but we're not sure how to be that fast without burning some pieces due to air friction. We've considered working in a vacuum sealed chamber to eliminate that issue.
@multi-stageaerobiccapacity7626

+Joshua Miller well consider a 2 minute mark. then when you are in the chamber you can still go as fast but the air friction won't happen until the 1:50 mark
That board and puzzle are marvelous.

Excuse me, I saw that you said you are doing the life jigsaw puzzle, that's by Educa i think, in that case have they improved their quality about.... 15 years ago my mum bought me my first 500 piece puzzle, it was by Educa and it was blurry as hell so how's the picture quality on that 24,000 one.

Nice. Ravensburger puzzles are the best. I have one waiting to be done.
Great time lapse, thanks for sharing.
Looks like you have some pretty pro techniques there :)
That was awesome guys, well done 👍
best time lapse ever! great job!
Kudos on the puzzle! I'm 5 days into just a 1000 piece Ravensburger. I'm doing it alone, simultaneously working on a 500 piece "Puzzlebug," and had to move it from one house to another (don't ask how). Wish me luck!
I'm not a beginner at puzzles, but I have no interest in doing a puzzle that huge. The highest I'll go is 1000 pieces. But watching this puzzle makes me want to go to my mom's house right now and start trying to do a 1000 piece puzzle. It's a Cinderella puzzle. I have completed a 750 piece puzzle in just 2 days though, with no help at all. I'm not even 12 yet. Maybe one day I'll try that type of puzzle.
Well, I do a 1000 piece on a Saturday easily. If you get there, you'll probably want to try something bigger. A 2000 piece puzzle is far more challenging for example, but you can still progress with it pretty fast. From 3-4000 pieces, sorting them becomes a real toil and you really can't start the puzzle without it so that's not fun at all. But the more time it takes, the bigger pride you can take in your work.
14 DAYS!!!!!! It took me and my dad more than 2 years to assemble a 3000 pcs puzzle and it was never completed. You are NOT human. I am doing a 5000 piece Ravensburger Puzzle too and I am stuck. It is the second week now and I couldn't even start. I have to separate the pieces first. But with a 10 hours job and I'm all alone doing it.

Dilly Vue We did this during Christmas break, so the free time was a given. It was just 2 of us for almost all of it, near the end, my sister joined in for a few pieces. You can see another woman sitting down near the end too, she didn't do anything with the puzzle.

DFDalton1962 Now that is interesting, I knew about there being two halves, because several pieces fit exactly on the wrong side of the puzzle, but I never thought of "quarters." Thanks for that insight.

Joshua Miller I don't make an idea how i'm going to assemble the sky pieces. Most of the pieces are identical. How did you assembled the blue pieces in yours?
I don’t know why people are getting upset that you disassemble it. I always put mine back in the box. First because I’d like to do a puzzle more than once and second because what makes a jigsaw puzzle great is not the same that what makes a piece of art for you wall. Great video!
Good lord, that was a high-speed time lapse and I'm still falling asleep.
Wow!!! Good job.
I have this one. Part of a very long to-do list. I have previously done Ravenburger’s “Tower of Babel”, “Views of Modern Rome” and “ Daybreak” 5000 piece puzzles.
Thanks for the reply. Will look it up.
Omg that was awesome
why didn't you glue it and have it framed???
i tried buying the puzzle but it is SO EXPENSIVE! and to see you guys destroy it breaks my heart!
Oh my - I can live with the puzzle being cleared up and re-boxed, but what kills me is not seeing the last piece slotted into place! I'm in so much pain!
Very very good job big like 👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing guys !!
Wow, you guys are kinda crazy to take it apart. I always layer them with pieces of paper so that I can just put it together for whatever reason, I might wanna frame any of my puzzles some day. Otherwise it was a great video and a great job!!
Very nice!!!!
You should have taken a bow at the end. Nicely done!
god damn! nice work
Amazing!
@Valentinevar I've just finished also my first 1000 piece puzzle but it's not that colourful. Even though I separated the colours. After that I separated into different forms. Of course firstly I did the frame. Secondly I chose one of the colours, which is right next to the frame... and I step by step I did it (= Good luck with yours!
5000 Teile sind für uns nur ein guter Anfang :P - Spaß bei Seite, tolle Arbeit ♥️
Wow 14 days is impressive!! I just finished this puzzle about 5 minutes ago. Took me about a month and a half. Except I worked on it alone, and the kicker is the table I did it on was not large enough to fit the whole 60x40 border so I had to do it in sections - glue a square or rectangle. kind of a nightmare actually! ANDDDD i'm missing 2 pieces lol Next time I will make sure puzzle fits on work area before attempting.

I know i am answering quite late but if u want to hang the puzzle on the wall there are 2 options: 1) contact the company and they may send missing piece OR better option 2) cut the piece from the box from approximately the same area!) worked great for my family) Maybe it will help somebody in the future)
To those complaining that they put it back in the box, remember that nothing ever lasts. Instead of mourning, be happy that this great and beautiful thing existed. Also remember that even though something is gone, that just means something will come take its place.
Spent a week on a 2000 piece puzzle and I treasured that puzzle, how could you just take apart all that hard work???
WOW 😍 amazing
Why'd you take it apart? lol Why not frame it?

Que shoooooow!!! Não acredito que foi desmontado depois de tanto trabalho kkkk Mas, parabéns!!!
Just finished this puzzle myself. It's odd that we used almost the same exact strategy for building. It took me about a month but it was only me working on it. I think I will frame mine though, just because I can't see myself doing this puzzle again and I want to go on to do bigger puzzles. How you done any other big puzzles?
I watched the beginning of this video a few times to better understand the initial sorting strategies these puzzlers employ. It appears pieces are initially sorted by color, by my shape, and the edge pieces are set aside for placement. Then I lost track of what they were doing. Please share your puzzling strategies. I want currently working on a 1000 piece Pomegranate puzzle entitled, "Sail boats on the Seine", a painting by the Impressionist, Claude Monet..One strategy I employee is to separate all pieces by shape, laying them out in rows and columns, so I can quickly scan the various shapes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Roy Lewis Buffalo, NY USA
CoooooL!
I'm about to start the Sistine chapel. I'm trying to build a foam board top. Any suggestions?
As soon as you guys finished I clicked on thumbs up then I saw more movement on the screen looked up and you were putting it back in the box and my reaction was wide eyes and my jaw felt to the floor, but good job. I was wondering how many pics per hr was your time lapse?
YOU CLEANED IT UP?????
Very Good Partner;)
Awesome. So sad that you had to destroy it. Did you at least keep it there for a couple of days?
Yeah why didnt you glue it and frame it!!!!!!!
@Valentinevar Yes, we separated by color like you see, but we should have used more containers to further sort it out (light red, dark red, etc). There were just so many pieces, different parts had similar colors, argh! A 1,000 piece puzzle would be much easier with less to sort. I could do a 1,000 piece puzzle in 2 days at the most by myself, but this 5,000 piece one took 2 people 14 days. I can't imagine doing a 24,000 piece one... yet.
Epic
bravo!
OMG!Why don't u make more video like this...by the way..What is the song name please?:)
I don't understand you people that think they should glue it...
@Hirotoro4692
10 жыл бұрын
Why? My dad glued a 5,000 piece puzzle. You glue it and hang it on the wall like you would a painting. But rather than any ordinary painting it serves as not only a reminder of an accomplishment but it makes a great talking point when you have guests around. I couldn't see myself doing a puzzle like that twice. Especially not when I could go out and buy a whole new jigsaw and do that!
@MagusMarquillin
6 жыл бұрын
Or just press it between a board and a glass plate, so you can display it until it bores you, then frame a different puzzle and have the option of doing it again. At least it's not so sinful as gluing Lego, puzzles typically just make one thing.
wonderfull!
👍🏻👍🏻
beautiful, I lovee
I used a capture program called Booru (Booruwebcam), and I had it set to a frequent interval, which should have been less. I think it was 1 picture per 2 seconds, I ended up with over 100,000 photos, I simply culled that down to make it 1 every 30 seconds, that's the rate you see in this video.
Hi! Great video! I just wanted to share with you the one I just made: Ravensburger Astrology 9000 pieces - Time lapse I wish I had a bigger table to make it all in one piece but I had to do it in two parts. Cheers!

When I finish a puzzle, I usually break it into chunks that fit in the box, and store it. I do not get the point of breaking the puzzle apart. Better glue it together and hang as a painting. Sure you are not gonna revisit this puzzle; better just buy a new one with another picture.

Maravilloso🤗
Nooooo how dare you cleaned it up ? 😭😭 you broke my heart
anyone knows where can I buy a table for a 5000 piece puzzle like that? Preferably a folding one
Hi, Excellent job! So far I have completed more than 20 puzzles with average size - 1000 -1500 pieces. The biggest I've done was 3000 and now I am ready to go to the next level. So I was wondering, since you've broken it back into pieces and presumably wouldn't do it again - would you sell it and how much would you ask for it!? Thanks in advance!
Starting to make my 750 piece puzzle look easy. And y’all should’ve kept it. There’s this paint thing you can put on puzzles so it’ll stay together I can’t remember what it’s called though
Holy shoot!
Wow working on a 1000 piece one, may I ask for tips for working in a group? won't one person sort the puzzle in one way and another person in a different standard?
I like the end :D
Omg that was so awesome, i was like yes when the last piece was put i was so happy I'm like that must have felt so good! And then they are like now here is how the cleaning looks, I'm like huh? They break it and I'm just like Noooooooooooo! 😱😱😱😱😨😦😢
