The name of the farm at the tip of the peninsula is "Svalvogar" (plural) not "Svalvogur" (singular). I spent my summers there from age 10 to 13 or thereabouts (sending kids off to farms for the summer was very popular back then - the equivalent of "summer camp" these days). Back then the road ended in Keldudalur (close to the big yellow sign warning people off) - we carried everything on our backs (or by boat). The name Svalvogar means "cold coves" or some such - the town "Svolvær" in Lofoten, Norway, probably started out as "Svalvogur" (modern Icelandic being the language of the the Norse 1000 years ago). If you had stopped just before getting off that shelf in the cliffs you would have seen ancient trees (~16 MY old) compressed between the lava layers.

Love the video. I was wondering how you knew when low tide occurred? Were you able to find tide charts online, or did you ask locally?

I don't think it's a big problem, considering all the salt on the streets in winter.

Is there a restriction in height of the car? What is the maximum height to drive this road?
