Hey guys Matt here. The DC/DC charger and battery combo has kept my engel fridge running non stop for 4 weeks now. I am really impressed with how well this setup is working. Still need to mount a fixed solar panel for long stationery periods but I seem to get more than enough with the driving I do. Will update later if things change but for now it looks like a winner!
Looking at getting one of them I will just wait and see for the update. Thanks for the video

It's still working fine, 24/7 keeping the drink cold in the back of the ute!
Look forward to the updates as time goes.

It's been running for a couple of weeks now recharging the power hub and running a 40L 12V fridge, so far, all good.
Love your work! It looks the goods if it stays reliable. I personally have the intervolt dcdc charger which yet to install in my car for the dual battery up front. But something like this would be ideal for juicing up the batteries in a camper trailer/caravan setup. Relatively inexpensive too. btw I love my Crocs too!

The jury is still out on long term durability, but it could be a good thing! And Crocs are great!
Can you tel me why my status is blinking red I’ve wired it up and can’t find what’s wrong all other lights are green??
Hey mate Great video! I was just wondering if you could help with a problem I’m having. I’ve just hooked up my one into my ute but the “CAR” light on the side of the DCDC charger isn’t lighting up. What would be some things to check to get it to light up?Thank you in advance

Check the earth connections first, make sure there is continuity to the earth on the battery terminal.

Seems to be working great, there is a 160watt panel up on the roof racks now. Keeps the fridge (40L engel) running permanently.
The temperature sensing wire is supposed to connect directly to the negative post of the battery itself, as it is a thermocouple which reads the internal battery temperature via the heat conducted through the battery post

Yep, as I said in the vid, it's not going to help much there! But it certainly won't hurt either.

Do you know if this wire can be bypassed or replaced? (Temperature sensor wire) as I had a repairer cut it and disposed of the ring terminal end.Just would like to save buying a whole new unit if possible. TIA
@LockyourHubs4WDing

It's possibly just a type k thermocouple. You'll need to verify it, but that's by far the most common.

Hi matt, great vids! I just bought this unit and I've been asking around how to fit an Anderson to the green solar lead I'm told connect the green to the positive of the Anderson (with fuse) and negative of Anderson to negative of battery... Would you agree?

Great video mate, just wondering if the DC charger has to be connected to a starter battery for the MMPT to work? would like the option to take out of the truck when camping and leaving it connected via solar. Cheers Rob

Can this placed in the bonnet?
like your video but can you show how to wire it up as kings shows nothing i wish i got it from kickass
@LockyourHubs4WDing

It pretty straight forward, the only thing is to make sure there's a fuse close to the battery (as per the video) and select the correct coloured wire for the battery chemistry your using (AGM for example).
Hi enquiring on the DC to DC charger how do you go wiring up the Anderson plugs thank you
@LockyourHubs4WDing

We weren't overly happy with the job done, though it didn't give any trouble. So later the Anderson was flood soldered on.

Manual says nothing. I have alternator and solar slow flashing with solar plugged in and engine off. I have the blue wire connected to ignition. So shouldn’t it STOP sucking off my start battery the moment it’s off?
@LockyourHubs4WDing
Жыл бұрын
Yes it should, the easiest way to test this is to have a clamp meter around the positive wire on the battery feed, when you turn the engine off, the current should stop flowing.
@ibsn87
Жыл бұрын
@@LockyourHubs4WDing even with the blue wire connected to ignition. I turn off the engine (and ignition 12v supply drops) and it continues to drain the battery at 22ish amps until 12.8 or so volts on the start battery - this can take 5 minutes of sucking 22 amps off it. Not really impressed. A dc dc charger that operates off start battery voltage alone is DUMB. I would have thought the moment the 12v supply drops off the blue wire it should cut charging immediately. Now if I trickle charge my 12v start battery, the dc dc charger kicks in and pulls it down. Regrettting my purchase immensely
@LockyourHubs4WDing

@@ibsn87 oh ok, so it looks like it's a voltage dependant relay. That's not that unusual to allow a system to draw from the start battery until a certain voltage is reached before cutting it off. The redarc voltage dependant relay used for a second battery installs does exactly the same thing. Next time I see the ute the DCDC is installed in, I'll put a current clamp on the supply positive after turning off the ignition and update this thread.

Some of their stuff is great, and unfortunately some is also rubbish.
You do nice reviews. I checked it out at the online store - it doesn't support Lithium charging. - bugger. In general, I have no problem with Chinese cheapies, but they have to be cheap, buying a "quality" brand does not guarantee you don't end up buying a rebadged Chinese cheapie at an inflated price or just an inferior designed, expensive product. Brand is not always a panacea. This unit in particular I think is far too expensive for a cheap unit, it should be at least half the price offered, if not one third given what is in it and the zero investment they have made in its R&D. As much as I like the choices 4WDSupacentre offers, some products are actually excellent, but with this one they need to pull their collective finger out!

Usually, I would agree! I've have bad experiences with everything from their winches to their spotlights. Though I try not to tar everthing with the same brush and judge each product on their merits.
