Proudly built-in Richards Bay 💪

I'm jelly of you guys in SA, you had the mk1 Golf produced all the way until 2009! Such a good looking car even today.

I've been wondering for years when I'd see a South African AWD Mk1 Golf. There was a a guy in the UK many moons ago that used a Mk4 R32 drivetrain converted to fit a Mk1 GTI. This is great to see locally, love it when guys make something so unusual and unique possible.

There's not much to dislike about this car to be honest. Super cool, and down to earth owner.... Brilliant!

ive seen a ton of Euro AWD turbo MK1's, overseas, like Boba, but not much here. i hope we see more. ive always felt the 20V was kinda understated. ABF getting the most credit. but i think with good tuning, the 20V is still a great engine to tune. As for the owner, he really seems like a stand up dude. nice to see. no pretenses, very chilled. good luck to you and the blue sleeper

@@Noor_Jacobs03 been in Australia for 13 years. It is a safer place to be, has it's own set of problems...... One being very restricted on what you can do to a car. And we have a points system on our drivers license.......hard when you drive a modded v8.....😂

@@Noor_Jacobs03 yeah man, my one sister is still there....... Never thought I'd own a v8.....but it's so invigorating. Just built the motor. Very happy. It's a big change moving country. I have still not created close friends and that is what I miss.

Nice 👌 a proper sleeper ...

Incredible car, exceptionally well built. This is the pinnacle for VW guys, a dream for many, but there's a lot of things mispoken. 1. 1.8T 20v engines come stock standard with individual coil packs and cars have run up to 450kw and more with them. 2. There is no need for 8 injectors unless he intends on making 1000hp and keeping it streetable. Small cc's for street, big cc's for drag. Injector technology as well as the Fueltech has come a long way. 3. The 1800cc is no weaker than a stroker (physical strength), but it can rev better and higher. The stroker is a bigger power band, and a more steetable setup.

Ryno Myburgh also has a AWD mk1 in JHB, running a DSG gearbox and 2L FSI engine

The MK4 Golf,Beetle & Audi TT were based on the same chassis? Imagine a 4wd 2000's Beetle sleeper.

Speed Shop in Durban have an AWD 20v MK1 turbo with sequential box. It's running. It's been on the interwebs racing R8's and stuff when Murder Nova came to town.

Sorry but i don't think MK1'S are sleepers , an old passat would be way more of a sleeper , the MK1 is too known as a killer already
