Because he refused the draft when his number came up. Some of my favorite protest songs were Eve of destruction, What are we fighting for. And my favorite slogan was power to the people f*** the police! And this still resonates today.

In response to Butch and Greg's discussion about how far people can be pushed before they finally decide to rise up and resist tyranny and oppression; During the Spanish Civil War, a significant portion of the population lived as literal serfs in dirt hovels with virtually no personal possessions, working for the land owners far into old age, practically until the day they died before enough people finally rose up against the government and monarchy. There certainly are many Americans living in similar states of desperation and toil, but I fear we have many more years of increasing suffering before it gets bad enough that the working class will rise and demand real reform en masse.

@zztopz7090 I often wonder to what degree, if any, wisdom, truth, and emotional management are considered when one determines "intellectualual supremacy?" Moreover, how much of those unknown nuances contribute to an intellectual's status or degree of intellectualism? Afterall, JD Vance is widely considered an intellectual, while many of us differ with that categorization. 🤔 Does intellectual supremacy include humane and compassionate intent?
