4th Gen Seat Swap in the Megacab Cummins 3rd Gen Dodge! *tow rig mods*

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The seats are one of the biggest downfalls to me of the 3rd gen dodge, they have no support when they're nice, but most of them are destroyed from the frame design tearing the fabric. instead of repairing the stock seats, we tracked down and swapped in some 4th gen dodge seats and they are AMAZING! Huge difference and super easy to do!

    garrett man I’m sayin. It doesn’t matter what the tow rating is, if you tow with it, no matter the vehicle, things are going to wear out faster. You cant expect Factory to last forever, especially if you’re towing with it on the regular. If you’re going to by a “tow rig” be prepared to pay for s built transmission. It’s a lot of $$ but it’s worth it.

    @@garrettmonk8432 It has a built trans. My point is, this particular truck has been nothing but problems. I like the truck, so I'm going to keep fixing it. I just hope it gives me a break at somepoint. And idk why people complain about the IFS on a chevy. I put 30,000 on mine without a single problem.

    I do miss it, but I still believe it wouldn't have pulled this trailer very well. it was short wheelbase where this truck is a longwheel base chassis plus being a 3500 it has stiffer rear leafs, already has a built trans, and intake, tuner, exhaust. It just needs to stop breaking random stuff all the time. lol

  • @spunk97100

    @spunk97100

    Taylor Ray they both have their pros and cons I think with a few mods to the duramax you could’ve pulled whatever you want wherever you wanted but I do agree on why you got the dodge as far as having a gooseneck hitch and built trans, I think it’s more the quality of the duramax compared to the dodge that made it stand out

    Taylor, this was a huge help. I have a Gen 3 quad-cab myself and have been wanting to swap out the front and rear cloth seats for upgraded leather seats. Knowing the Gen 4's don't require a major modifications was my biggest question. I like the truck without the spacers and I think it's better to have well fitting shoes on the truck, especially when you are towing that amount of weight. Have you ordered a new vent cap for the trailer, or does it still get wet inside when it rains? She just needs some thorough tender care, not quick fixes.....because she was not maintained as well previously IMO. I have gotten as high as 26 mpg in my manual 3500. Empty of course.

    Decent video and informative about the 4th gen seats fitting in a 3rd gen. One thing that kinda messed with my head a bit is that it would have been a great time to at least vacuum the cab while the seats were out instead of installing the replacements over the top of all that debris. haha, As far as the parts failures on many of today's vehicles I feel that it is because most of the manufacturers no longer make their own parts. Just one of many examples: I had a 2001 Camaro SS with the SLP Package (Basically a lot of the same parts that the Vette had including the infamous LS1 piston slap) The brake rotors would warp between 2K-3K miles. They would just keep replacing them under warranty and I finally asked why they don't just fix the problem by producing a better rotor? Their answer was that they are made by a 3rd party manufacturer and it is cheaper for them to just keep replacing them under warranty than to have GM start making them. That is the dumbest thing that I had heard. This is a huge part of why we can't have nice things anymore. As far as the design of 3rd gen Dodge Ram is concerned their HVAC boxes Suck! Broken blend doors and diverter doors are a stupid design and a PITA to repair all of the different doors in that box. I still love my RAM but like any other truck that I've owned it's not without issues. Thanks for the video.

    Man..... Crazy... If i seem red flags i would check and recheck everything.. know you know.. when getting sests.. believe their is quad cab crew cab and mega. And a think a classic.. quad cab is normal seats and doors up front.. back is smaller doors and not to great of a leg room.. a crew cab is a full 4 door seats which the back is more legroom then the quad.. and the mega cab is so much soace in the back can possibly stretch your legs..and finally the single cab... Only the two seats no backseats at all..am also excited for mine.. i took a least 2 weeks finding these seats.. finally getting them shipped!! By the end of this week of mid week next week i whould habe them.. its from a 2015 all leather blacked out 450 for front seats and back.. putting it in a 2003 quad cab.. 6 inch lift starlights black suede uptop. Touchscreen. Remove old plastic and get all leather dash. 1000 dollar headlights revese kight leds. And remove the bumper for aome steel bumper up front and back.. see who can install sensors on them.. to not crash into other cars crushing them in the process😂😂 has 35 might go with 37.. but also removing the back window with the middle able to open the window for fresh air.. and replacing the center concel with same yr but just leather.. removing the dash and upgrading it to newer look... Has a led bar up top for dark areas... What else is there to do.. amd lastly big biy upgrades with brakes and pads and rotors. For heavy tires.and shocks with coils. To make the ride too quality.. rims in brown color.has allqays been my dream to oneday rebuild the truck to a bit more modern. Up to date.. and the most expensive is ceramic tint all the way around and get the fog lights to work. 15+ yrs strong and just dont want to let go of the truck. Am 23 now and just need that final touch after all this and get it in candy blue with heavy flakes.. and a reverse camera with touchscreen...

    Are those tree of gondor from the lord of the rings gauges you're wearing? It's an odd question, but I just noticed it.

    My Frontier went through 3 sets of calipers in 50K miles. Also broke both rear leaf springs, bed rusted out and the AC leaked (just like this Dodge!). There is no perfect truck out there.
