4th Gen Dodge Ram Aluminum Blend Door Upgrade From Blend Door USA | Complete Installation

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here I will be showing the complete installation of the all-aluminum blend doors from Blend Door USA in this 4th Gen Dodge Ram. I know I said I would include the part numbers in the description but the only part I know for a fact will work with all 4th Gen Rams is the cabin filter door (Dorman part #259-101). I would much rather you look up all the other parts involved as I would hate for you to order the wrong part and not realize it until the whole dash is removed.

GM does the same thing, you have to remove the entire dash just to replace the evap or heater core.

So I’m already down to replacing the hvac case guts before I realized I’d need a tool to recalibrate the actuators… now what? lol

@@jeremiahbean9652 If you are talking about the part where I send power manually to the actuators to verify the doors travel without binding- this procedure isn't required. It is only recommended (and I highly recommend doing it). The recalibration at the end of the video can be done by a professional shop after you get the dash all put back together.

Sorry I ended up not making a parts list as I would hate for someone to order the wrong part. Some of these Dodge Ram A/C parts can change part numbers depending on the exact month the truck was made. The only part I know for a fact will fit all 4th gen Rams is the Dorman cabin filter door (part #259-101)

@@726scooty It should still be about the same as this one it'll just have the shifter of course. Once you pull off the top of the console that surrounds the shifter you should be able to see the bolts holding the shifter down and you will need to pry the shift cable off the shifter with a small pry tool. It helps to shift the transmission into drive to be able to gain better access to the shift cable when you are trying it off of the shifter.

There HAS to be an easier way to do this? Are you 100% certain that you can't just cut an access hole to swap the blend door, then patch that up with aluminum tape or whatever? Seems like that should be possible, also without removing the whole dash, just the center console panel and/or the glovebox. Further, Blend Door USA's kit for that is $330? Absurd, for what it is. I have to give you props for finding someone foolish enough to put that much money into a Dodge though, but they're probably already used to it being a money pit.

No, there are no shortcuts to doing this job. The HVAC housing absolutely must be split. As far as cost goes, it is a great value when you consider the amount of future labor that will be saved from having to replace broken plastic doors multiple times. Besides, the amount of R&D Blend Door USA has had to invest to get their product to where it is now absolutely wasn't cheap. So I wouldn't expect them to sell their product any cheaper.
