Hi, thank you very much for making these types of videos, they are very helpful. I just bought a 1999 Toyota 4 Runner 3 gen and I have to do maintenance on several things because I want to have it at 100%.

Thanks for the tips. If I choose to do the easy, drain and fill, multiple times, does it matter if I mix ATF fluid. Not sure what was used last.

IMO no, these fluids are meant to be compatible.

What if you had a pump pumping in fluid through the line you disconnected/plugged up...could you add at the same time you're draining?

You bet. Be sure to shut off the pump at same time you turn the engine.

Might be a stupid question but would this method work on 100 series Land Cruiser? (2001) This seems a lot more straightforward than the cruiser videos I’ve found

minus the dipstick re-fill, wouldn't this method work on a 5th gen 4runner too?

Hey Speedy! I have a 3rd gen with 230,000 miles and never changed the trans fluid. I did just install new Oem radiator yesterday. Would you recommend complete flush like you did or drain and fill? I’m worried about getting rid of all the clutch material at once. Can this be bad for the transmission? Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you

I'd do exactly what I did but if you don't know the history of the fluid add a trans filter change as well.

Just a dumb question, if you would disconnect the high line and low line on the radiator, would you be able to put the high side in a bucket and the low side in the new fluid and it would suck the new in, until you have 11 qts out?

So, when refilling fluid, did you drain and add 1 qt. at a time or 3 qtrs. at a time?

9:35 don't look so clean anymore, now that it's all in that clear bucket. I thought mine looked clean as it was pouring out of the drain hole, but once in the jug I knew I was right to change it.

Hi there- looking to do all my different and transfer oils on my 1998 4runner SR5 soon. I tried to order the male hex replacement bolt (as per your link) and they are telling me it will not fit my vehicle. I know your is a 2002 from watching your videos, so how do I find out the fill plug size of my 1998 to see if it's the same?

Speedy, rather than drain the pan, can you not just bleed, then replace only? With draining the pan as the first step, arent you just bleeding out fresh fluid?

Pink milkshake happens to all vehicles that have transmission coolers in the radiator. You can avoid that by getting a aluminum radiator.

Based on how clean the fluid was I didn't think it was worth the effort and wanted to avoid a potential pan leak.

Hello new subscriber here. My neighbor want to sell me his 2001 4runner 4x4 but the valve cover starts to leak oil. I I don't know how to fix it and don't have enough money to bring it to a mechanic. I want to know if engine will be broken down if I drive it like that until I make it be fixed. The leak is minor. Thanks...🙏

  • @alexgurnell9283

Common issue for them. If it’s leaking a minor amount you can tighten the valve cover bolt very slightly . It’s an inch pound spec. It won’t be an issue unless it’s leaking a ton. Can leak onto your alternator or exhaust etc.
