The Vizcaya Bridge (Bizkaiko Zubia in Basque and Puente de Vizcaya in Spanish) is the first and therefore oldest transporter bridge in the world. It was constructed in 1893 and is still in use today. The bridge connects the towns of Portugalete and Getxo near Bilbao in the Basque Country of northern Spain, crossing the mouth of the Nervion River.

This transporter bridge is crossing the Nerviion river between Portugalete and Las Arenas in the right side of the river .When was younger I was share holder of the compay and in the seventies they stoll me making a delesting of the shares ...

Looks like the gondola has been refurbished. Good to see this historical bridge looked after and still doing it’s original work well. Looks like a flying ferry. I suppose, in a way, that’s what it is. 2:22

Yes but this is the first one created by the spanish architect Alberto de Palacio in 1893.
