Yaowarat Road is also famous for its Chinese New Year celebration which has always been lively, decored with lights and red Chinese-style lanterns, and packed with visitors as well as street food vendors. There are usually shows and performances throughout the day. Chinese shrines in the area also fill with visitors in red costumes, especially Thai-Chinese people who come to pray for luck and wealth.

The Thai Chinese have been there and assimilated into its mainstream for a few hundreds years already - even before the Opium wars migration . It was famously referred to by my ancestors as SIAM. The DNA is already in its people ( theThaksin PM and other elite Army and Biz communities ), and in it's Monarchy.

Hope others could understand a lot of Asian countries called this CNY because its for THEIR PEOPLE of Chinese descent (Ethnically Chinese not nationally chinese). People kept dividing them with nationality thats not how Civilisation/culture works….thats just like people asked to rename Diwali to light festival(discard indian name) because a lot of other countries also celebrate Diwali despite the fact that its of Indian culture….and its indian descent in other countries that celebrates.

ใช่ ฟุตบาททางเท้ากลายเป็นที่ขายของไปเลย ส่วนคนก็ต้องลงมาเดินบนท้องถนนร่วมกับรถยนต์ที่วิ่งไปมา เห็นมีมอเตอร์ไซต์บางคันวิ่งสวนทางก็มี ดูแล้วก็คึกคักดี แต่ก็วุ่นวายพอๆ กัน ต้องจัดระเบียบให้ดีกว่านี้ ถึงจะสวยงาม

Thai Chinese are well assimilated into the into the Thai mainstream society with adoption of Thai names and the language. Yet on CNY, we can see they are still proud of their Chinese heritage and culture. So many are openly wearing red and the cheongsam here , never the same seen in Chinese communities anywhere in SE Asia or around the world. And not even in Chinese majority Singapore.

I'm not sure what Evergreen Hotel you mentioned, @siam square or sathorn). But you can take the MRT from Sanamchai station (next to Wat Pho) then BTS to both places.

Wow shows no respect to Thailand. Thailand celebrates CNY because its for Thai Chinese (Ethnically chinese not nationally chinese). Thai chinese has a long migration history and many thai has chinese descent. Thailand has their own lunar new year in different month of course they wouldnt name CNY as lunar new year to confuse themselves.
