Hello everyone and welcome to a 4K Walk Trought Grugapark, located in Essen, Germany.
Grugapark is a sprawling urban park that seamlessly blends nature, recreation, and cultural attractions. The park covers an area of approximately 70 hectares and has been a popular destination for both locals and tourists since its opening in 1929. The name "Grugapark" is derived from the Große Ruhrländische Gartenbau-Ausstellung (Great Rhenish Garden Exhibition) that took place in the park in 1929. Over the years, it has evolved into a multifaceted green space that caters to a diverse range of interests.
We start the walk at the Gradierwerk, or saline. It is a unique and historical structure that plays a significant role in the park's cultural and recreational offerings. A Gradierwerk is essentially an apparatus designed to increase the salinity of water. The structure is often an intricate wooden framework filled with bundles of blackthorn branches. As water flows down these branches, it evaporates, leaving behind salt particles. The result is an increased salinity in the air surrounding the Gradierwerk.
Then we pass a diverse collection of statues that contribute to the Grugapark's artistic and cultural ambiance. Each sculpture likely adds a unique touch to the park's landscape, offering visitors a variety of artistic expressions and themes to explore.
We continue this 4K walk to Grugahalle, the park's crown jewel and an iconic concert and event venue that has hosted numerous cultural events and performances over the years. The hall's distinctive architecture adds a touch of grandeur to the park and makes it a recognizable landmark in the region.
The next stop is the Japanese Garden. For those seeking a moment of tranquility, the Japanese Garden provides the perfect sanctuary. This garden encapsulates the essence of Japanese landscaping, evoking a sense of peace and serenity.
One of the standout features of Grugapark is its botanical diversity. The park boasts a stunning collection of over 2,000 species of trees and countless flowering plants. The beautifully landscaped gardens showcase a variety of themes, from traditional rose gardens to vibrant herbaceous borders.
There is a Rose Garden in the park which will be on the right. The full beauty of it you can see in summer.
After that we pass a kid's playgroud and reach to the Grugapark Zoo. The Grugapark Zoo is home to a diverse array of animals, including exotic species and domestic animals. The zoo provides an educational and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages, promoting awareness and conservation of biodiversity.
We finish this walk in Grugapark, Essen Germany at the Margarethensee (Margaret Lake).
