  • @blakejohnsoncsr

    Lighting in relation to time of day has always played a huge part in how the footage turns out. Using an NDR or polarize filter helps tremendously, SNR or Polar Pro makes quality filters. I try and shoot the lowest ISO possible with the shutter speed = 2xs the FPS. Ex: 4k30fps= 60 shutter speed. I'll also shoot half of my clips in auto just to have more options because sometimes the sky gets overexposed on manual. I made my final adjustments to color and lighting in Final Cut Pro X and I slightly increased the sharpness. Hope that helps!

    Hi Blake, fantastic job on the video!!! I'm looking into getting a drone to bring to Thailand for a 3 month trip next year, and I was wondering if you had any issues on where you were allowed to fly the drone? I'm anxious that maybe I'll run into legal trouble. Any thoughts or suggestions where it might NOT be okay to fly it?

  • @blakejohnsoncsr

    @blakejohnsoncsr

    8 жыл бұрын

    Thanks, no issues. Just don't fly in cities, over people or around anyone who appears could maybe give you a hard time. I would google as much as you could on any laws that might have changed recently. I went end of Nov-Dec 15' . I would also say that if you are going to get a drone, get one way before you leave so you can practice and learn how to use it. Good luck!

    I never felt like it was a hassle but then again I bought the DJI for this trip specifically. It really depends if you are ok toting a backpack or case around, which I was. Super happy I took it with me and got the shots i did. I have the manfrotto backpack which was perfect for carrying the drone plus my laptop, osmo and additional accessories. Hope you have a great time, Thailand is amazing!

  • @blakejohnsoncsr

    @blakejohnsoncsr

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ryan Cannaday hey Ryan yes everything was edited in Final Cut. The Osmo (stabilizer cam) is how I get all of the smooth shots. I didn't spend too much time on the color grading nor do I really claim to know much about it. I literally adjusted the exposure and color saturation within the stock final cut color correction settings. Best thing I can attribute the quality is to good lighting and using the best settings I could while recording. Thanks for checking out the video!

    great color editing bro.. Great job. What did you use for color grading? and what camera settings? I fly Phantom 4, and its hard to believe that this was done with P3. How did you obtain that sharpness with 4K? Two thing are really interesting what was the camera settings on P3, D-Log? Contrast Saturation and Sharpness level? -3 all? and did you apply sharpness in post or it was already high on p3? Thanks in advance

  • @blakejohnsoncsr

    @blakejohnsoncsr

    8 жыл бұрын

    Thanks!! Stock color tools in Final Cut Pro X. Honestly, I did not tweak anything more that the saturation, exposure and sharpness. I used a Snake River Prototype NDR Polarizer filter when flying. I think that really helped, all thanks to how the light was when I was flying. Sometimes it was a combo of auto and manual. I definitely don't consider myself to be any kind of expert on color grading. Thailand is beautiful and it made the shots for me as opposed to forcing anything. Jealous of the P4, enjoy!

    What version GOPro do you have? You more than likely need to play with the ISO setting. Higher ISO = brighter , lower ISO = darker

    +Blake Johnson when did you go? Did you had any problems carrying it on the plane? Currently debating whether or not to bring the P3 for my April trip. Heard they're banned?

    +Ty Nguyen I had no issues, just make sure you check as many online resources closer to the time you go. Airlines are starting to get picky with the lipo batteries I think. They don't care about the drones.
