@Adrian Valladares American Me is based on a true story but American Me is not accurate, for example, with the rape. That's why La Eme was going to kill Edward James Olmos. But yea I 100% agree this needs to be released on 4K, I believe a Blu-ray 1080p release is in the making right now. American Me just barely recently got it's Blu-ray release, regardless they should have already been produced in 4K a while ago. Still both good films.

I think the reason why this was overbudget was due to all the scenery chewing...all the teamsters had to rebuild the sets every day.

Billy Bob Thornton (the inmate here) years later goes on to direct a movie about a spanish-speaking white guy who gets stuck in an all Mexican prison (All The Pretty Horses).

It's a weird movie to watch now. Every ten seconds, with the cadence in the dialogue and the halting movements, I expect everyone to break into a musical number.
