The ending is so anticlimactically halarious. Yup there they are the penguins....i wonder how the penguins feel. "Oh look the space shuttle people are here to look at us again oh wait where are you going?!!! Nooo!!!"

It's not very exciting, however on a really hot Orlando day it's the best. It is extremely cold on the ride and even colder at the end of the ride.

Screens are cheaper and less maintenance, which is why a lot of theme parks are switching to those instead of animatronics 😕

The trackless ride vehicle holds so much promise but the use of screens is so disappointing. Themed entertainment is so much more than fancy digital movies. Great video. Thank you for exposing us to so much diversity in the industry.

Yup! Its a really cool technology, especially bei NY able to have multiple ride vehicles in the same scene (speeds up queue wait times) or being able to give each vehicle a slightly different “track”. But just flat screens 90% of the time? Soooo boring. I think of the now 20 year old Spiderman ride at Islands of Adventure. It was screens but it was so well staged and incorporated with practical sets and effects that the ride was/is far more immersive and alive and exciting!

two of my favorite things. penguins and a trackless ride. i just hate how they use the screens.

This looks like a ride more fascinated with the technology than the actual experience

That was a really neat ride. That was the first time ever watching a POV. Dad and i should have stood in line to ride it. We wanted to just see the Penguins, but we were told we had to ride the ride first. The wait time was 90 minutes.

people keep criticizing this attraction for its lack of of one thing or another, they seem to have forgotten that they are in Sea World, not Disney or Universal. Sea World is an aquarium and zooilogical location built around animal and natural attractions, not thrill rides and animatroncs. This ride was intended to give you the perspective of a penguin chick then introduce you to the birds themselves at the end. The same thing for the sea turtle 3 d imax film they have in park.

I can see why they closed this down, I mean the entire ride being a joke already adds to the problem. But they need to like actually try something better. What if they do, this could be a test for an actual groundbreaking dark ride. i also miss how cold that place was tho

Honestly, the screens wouldn't be half as disappointing if the video was of actual Planet Earth style real life footage instead of poorly done CGI.

Antarctica is awesome this ride is okay if you go extreme at the end the highlight is the penguins very educational a learning experience hands down also it is very cold 32 degrees honestly but it is a true adventure

i know this ride wasn’t the best but it still made my childhood so happy; i truly miss it. plus, this was practically the only ride that the whole family could enjoy together 😞

Those real penguins at the end in the enclosure just standing there looked so sad and bored. The ride was nice, but seeing that at the end was very depressing. The main reason I can't go to Sea World.

The people there take great care if them and they do that to conserve energy. They are not humans and they like it and the main reason that you probably hate it because of the movie Blackfish😠

@@honureef6185 No, it's not because of a movie. It's because Sea World has a horrible track record as far as proper animal care. Look it up. In addition, there's the ethics of it which is what I can't get past. Keeping penguins in a small enclosed area with bright lighting like that, with loud noises and people gawking at them all day, is not exactly the greatest of environments for them. Many studies have shown an environment like that can make the animals neurotic, breaking them down mentally. That's why you see most of them just standing completely still, or swaying back and forth. Taking care of them is more than just keeping them fed. It's making sure, if you are going to keep animals in captivity, that their environment is large enough so that they are not all forced to be crammed together in one area, and that they have places they can go to where they can remove themselves from the rest of the other animals, in order to feel more secure if needed. As well as providing enrichment that is right for that particular animal, to keep their minds active and busy in order to decrease boredom and prevent neurosis. Sea World tends to put guest entertainment over the proper care for the animals they keep. They have for decades. Their problems started way before Blackfish came out.

People might not see this comment but there is a cool easter egg in the new Penguin Trek ride as they actually re-use the soundtrack from when Puck was being chased by the Leopard Seal. It can be heard right before you launch out of the indoor section.

This ride is so unforgivably bad. I'll never forget how angry I got at that shitty "grand finale" after thinking the ride was less than halfway over. I'm seriously convinced 90% of the budget went into the ride technology.

The point of this is to send people through in batches, not all at once. This was a walk through thing back in the early 2000s. It was crowded and easily "clogged" when people would gather at the screens.

i remember getting stuck on this ride in 2016. i finally came back to seaworld a few days ago and was sad it closed :’)

I love how it says no camera yet everyone takes pictures.

Bless you SeaWorld. So much you do attraction wise is half arsed. Luckily the animals are beautiful when you treat them well.

I’m pretty sure those ride vehicles are supposed to, move around like a simulator when you are in front of the screens

When the car spins around to the live habitat with the real penguins, and there's just an absolute mountain of penguin turds just behind the glass... Yikes.

this is super nostalgic bc i got stuck on this ride five times when i was little

SeaWorld Orlando has a lot of great rides, but this is definately one of the weaker ones. I'd go there just to ride the rollercoasters.

This is a shitty trackless ride. Disney has done much better with the concept. Look at Disney trackless rides like the Ratatouille ride in Disneyland Paris, Mystic Manor in Hong Kong Disneyland, and Pooh's Honey Hunt in Tokyo Disneyland. Now those are how you do trackless rides.

Hunny Hunt in Tokyo was first. And Tokyo Disneyland is not owned by Disney. It took an outside company (Tokyo Land Holdings, which is NOT Disney, they just rent the name and properties) to show Disney how to do it. Imagineers wanted to do something like it for years, but Disney was too tight with the purse strings. Which is why Disneyland got the crappy version of Pooh. This is also why the other parks outside the US got trackless rides; those parks are not 100% owned by Disney either and I don't just mean share holders. Tokyo however is unique in that is not at all owned by Disney, they made the deal when they were not doing so well in the 80's.

This is a testament that SeaWorld Parks and Ent. Can only complete in the thrill ride market. This was soooooo bad. I was pissed I waited an hour. They should seriously take this out......

You know... I never thought of it that way and I think you've changed my mindset. I always thought they needed to focus on dark rides (as the park is pretty much closed if lightning is remotely nearby) but they do tend to not do well in the dark ride department yet soar in the coaster realm...

You think this is bad? You should see the Submarine Quest ride they built in San Diego that only lasted a few months.

Everyone is saying this ride was boring but I had a few great memories on this ride lol it was my favorite ngl

Bummed I never got to ride this. The exhibit's nice though.

I’m glad that I got to experience this great ride; unfortunately I rode the extreme spinning side and all that spinning ruined my day😢

Did this ride get torn down? I went in September this year (2022 by the time someone else reads this) and there wasn't any entrance or advertisements for this ride, yet we were allowed to go right up to see the penguins and take pictures. There were two observation areas for them. I did kind of like how I got more time to interact with the penguins vs the ride though.

It’s more of an experience. Combining the queue, ride, and especially penguin exhibit.

Wow, sitting on pins and needles in great anticipation of such an extreme ride. I better bring some motion sickness pills to combat the intensity of the attraction.

I feel bad for so many penguins in such a small space.

If i remember correctly that’s just part of their enclosure i believe that it goes around on both sides and there’s a huge area for swimming around the corner ( i think or i dreamed it lol)
