The Milan underground is a network of five underground lines serving the city of Milan and part of its surroundings, the backbone of its local public transport network. The first three lines built are traditional, the other two are underground light. The lines are identified with different numbers and colors, for a total length of 104 km. The first line, the M1, (red line), was inaugurated in 1964, the second, the M2 (green line), in 1969, the third, the M3 (yellow line), in 1990, the fourth, the M4 (line blue) second light line, in 2022 and the fifth, the M5 (lilac line), first light line, in 2013.

La metropolitana di Milano è una rete di cinque linee di metropolitana a servizio della città di Milano e in parte del suo circondario, asse portante della sua rete di trasporto pubblico locale.Le prime tre linee costruite sono di tipo tradizionale, le altre due sono metropolitane leggere. Le linee sono identificate con numeri e colori diversi, per una lunghezza totale di 104 km.
