FAQ:
Where are you from? Are you Japanese?
- I am Swedish.
For how long have you lived in Japan?
- I came to Japan in 2008.
Why did you move to Japan?
- I was interested in Japan since I was a child, largely thanks to growing up playing a lot of (Japanese) videogames as well as a brief interest in anime during my teenage years. When I finally came here for the first time I felt that it was a really nice and interesting country, and I decided to do what I could to move here permanently.
How did you get a visa to Japan?
- It's complicated and my case is quite different from most, as I've always been self-employed. But basically, as long as you can show the immigration authorities that you have a stable income, there's usually a way. Personally, I was here on journalist visas until a few years ago when I got married. Now I have a spouse visa.
Do you work in Japan?
- Yes, I'm a photographer. Currently, most of my work is related to tourism and travel in Japan, but I also do portrait photography as well as documentary work. I used to write news stories and articles about Japan as well, mostly for newspapers in Sweden, but for the last 3-4 years, my work has been almost exclusively about photography. Sometimes I appear on TV too.
What camera do you use?
- My live walks are recorded with my phone, a Oneplus 8 Pro, mounted on a DJI OM4 Gimbal. 4K videos are mostly shot with an iPhone 12 Pro Max. For my "real work", I mostly use a Nikon Z7, but I also have a Z6, Fujifilm X-T3, Leica Q and Ricoh GR III that comes with me from time to time.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to move to Japan?
- Study, learn a skill that's in demand in Japan. There are plenty of available jobs here. Some knowledge of the Japanese language would also help a lot, not just to get you a job, but also so that you can actually enjoy life while living here as well.
How did you learn Japanese?
- I went to language school in Tokyo for one year in 2010-2011. After that, I've also taken some online courses and studied on my own.
How many languages do you speak?
- Swedish, English and Japanese reasonably well, and also a bit of German, as I lived there before coming to Japan.
Will you make bicycle videos?
- No. Streaming and interacting with my viewers while riding a bike would be too dangerous.
Can you show your face?
- I prefer to keep a bit of privacy here on KZread, at least for the time being. I do streams exclusive to my Patreon followers from time to time where I show my face though, so if you are really eager to see what I look like, and if you want to support the channel as well, you should consider joining me there. / tokyoexplorer

- K from Seoul 😭
32:52 Those are not hakubishin (palm civet). They are tanuki (raccoon dog) suffering from mange. Civets are smaller and are much longer in length. Kinda like weasels and mongooses (though neither three of them are related). Raccoon dogs are pudgy, as you can see with the one who has gone completely bald. A normal, healthy raccoon dog is very fluffy. Raccoon dogs make whimpering sounds like in the video, whereas civets make cackling sounds. They're pretty creepy (I have some in my neighbourhood). BTW civets are an invasive species so please don't feed them. I'm gonna move to Enoshima (Katase area) in the near future, and I'm so happy to know that there are tanuki there! I just had a visit yesterday and walked from Fujisawa Station to the beach, and saw LOTS of squirrels in the Shin Bayashi Park. This video gives me good inspiration as to where I can walk my (future) dogs. (:
This brings back so many memories of my 4 years in Japan
Wow. Such a picturesque town. Like straight out of the magazine, but that’s the case for a lot of Japanese neighborhoods and streets. Very beautiful.
It makes me feel nostalgic for one's own land, habits, orderliness, beauty and people. Curiously, it makes me feel at home and have love in my heart.
beautiful. I just pulled off the road to eat lunch and watching your video it's like I'm actually there, the sound and images are so well coordinated. Thanks!
Not too far from my house. Love visiting Enoshima whenever I can!
The hydrangea blooms were particularly lovely on the island, thanks again TE!

So beautiful! Thank you for doing this service
I went up to the Sea Candle and the view from there was spectacular!
Beautiful scenery, beautiful weather, beautiful people. Arigato, TE!
Came to know Enoshima because of the BL drama "If It's With You" / "君となら恋をしてみても"! Enoshima looks so pretty and comforting ❤
great atmosphere, love the view.. thank you for sharing this video 👍
What a lovely recommendation I got from KZread today! Sadly, I didn't manage to visit Enoshima when I was in Japan in 2019. But this reminds be a little bit of Miyajima Island and I loveeee how serene the whole island is! Great job in making these videos!! :)
This was just awesome. Thank you 🙏
One of the best walking videos I've seen
Endless thanks & praise, TE. We need such magical places, life's been dark. Had hakubishin raids in our area- increasing nbrs due to abandoned bldgs. These likely live in that old cliff house! Your double effort this trip is highly appreciated by all. Rock on, TE!
Your stamina is incredible, the way you just walked up all those stairs without stopping. I could never 😂 Lovely video though 😊
absolutely beautiful island,I will definitely visit this island in 2024
miss Japan so much ,, thank u this 4K video ^^
Thanks for sharing this video it is beautiful, and relaxing to watch
Nice and beautiful place in the middle of the city Beautiful palace. I want to visit this place soon.
Tanuki is in English "Raccoon dog" and in German "Marderhund" (originally native to Asia) small, raccoon-like predator, whose long-haired, wiry fur is very popular
Such amazing scenery on your walk! Arigatou gozaimasu!
So many things to cherish with beautiful passage through the stares and the view of a sea and how can i foregate two foxes' grate 4k view.
Have not been to Enoshima for a long time but enjoyed this 'tour'. Thanks
Thank you for your sharing.😊❤️🙏👍 Beautiful country.
I love Enoshima as well. But your take is so damn good! Thank you for sharing

@33:43 I think those are Civets 白鼻心 [はくびしん (hakubishin), ハクビシン (hakubishin)] civet (animal) / eine Zibetkatzenart (30 cm groß; Vorkommen in SO-Asien), Paguma larvata
Nice Enoshima, nice Japan
very nice
An anime studio will use this video as background one day, after they drawing it up in watercolors, you watch.
I like Japan
The masked palm civet, also known as the gem-faced civet. Cheers!

Outstanding/ stunning video. Enoshima is beautiful...and it is relatively close to Tokyo!! And close to Kamukura!! 10, A+ !! A joke! it would have been a ++, if you had also traveled on the Enoshima monorail 😉😄😂!! As usual, thank you very much, grazie. Greetings from Italy
Like your video dear friend 🥰

Hearing the English at about 3:15 made me do a doubletake.

1:04:35 I suppose the color of this hydrangea means the soil is alkaline.

Acidic soil makes blue blooms and alkaline makes pink ones, right? There's an ajisai park near our hometown of Miyakonojo. God, how I love the rainy season there. Stuck in LA's drought and heat for so long now...
@takematsu5574

@@mr.miyazaki5082 Thank you for your reply! Yes, you are right. I once visited Disneyland in LA about 30 years ago with a US sales person. The headquarters of his company was in Muskogee Oklahoma. He brought me to a nice coast closed to Disneyland where I felt the same vibe as Shonan beach. But I felt LA's drought and heat like you. That was my first visit to US. I landed at Chicago O'Hare Airport then moved to Tulsa to go to Muskogee. After spending a couple of days, I flew to New York landing at LaGuardia Airport via Memphis. I visited Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Grand Central Oyster Bar. After New York I flew from JFK airport to LA Airport where the US sales person was waiting for me. Regarding Miyakonojo, my matchmaker is from Shibushi-city in Kagoshima close to Miyakonojou. In addition, my ancestors are from Hitoyoshi-city in Kumamoto and Nagasaki. Now my sons live in Fukuoka. I pay the property tax every year both for Nagasaki and Fukuoka. That's a headache for me.
Dang I'm a little disappointed you didn't walk down to the rocks by the sea at 46:10. Still great video though
Isn't Enoshima the hometown of kanji nagano characters in originall Tokyo Love Story? Or is it Ehime?
Its a masked palm civet in English...
