4K Grossglockner High Alpine Road | Ferleiten to Heiligenblut, Austria [Remake]

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road connects Bruck and Heiligenblut through Hochtor Pass (2,504 m / 8,215 ft) near Grossglockner, the highest mountain in Austria. (3,798 m / 12,461 ft).
The drive starts at the toll gate in Ferleiten in the morning, located north of Hochtor Pass, heads to Edelweissspitze (observatory for the Grossglockner) and Hochtor Pass, then down to Heiligenblut.
This is a remake of the video previously posted with noise reduced and color regraded.
The scene from Fuschertörl parking to Edelweissspitze was filmed when I returned from Heiligenblut, as clouds covered the top on the first visit.
The toll is 40 Euro, a bit expensive, but definitely worth it. (I purchased a 70 Euro 3-week pass)
The drive in the opposite direction with a clear sky will be posted later.
BTW, the reason why I didn't go to Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe this time, where we can see the clear look of Grossglockner, is that I missed that route when I planned my Europe tour using Google Maps aerial image. I wish to go there again next time.

Great road! Thanks. On my first ride over, there was so much cloud/fog at the top that I didn't see the turnoff to the Edelweissspitze. Had maybe 20 meters of visibility. Later rides over had better weather.

Such amazing views 🌤💙 - great you were lucky about the weather after all! BTW, I've been twice in my life to Kaiser-F.-J.-Höhe but never reached Edelweissspitze - the narrow road up there is awesome, thanks for this drive 👍🚗👍!

This should be filmed around 7 to 9 am. Please also check the following video of a trip on the same road in the opposite direction in the afternoon on a different day. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lZubrMh9cpWen8Y.html

Wonderful video! By the date of “2023/7/4”, do you mean July 4 or April 7? I ask because I’ll be at Munich in the first week of July 2024. I’m contemplating driving the same route as yours, but I wonder if the snow atop the mountain has already disappeared.

May I ask how long is the driving duration from the start point to the end? Should we allocate 4 hours of traveling time, which includes the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe which closes at 3.30pm. Do you know if it opens later during July 2024? Is it also better to go in the afternoon or early mornings?

It is approximately two hours driving although you should count on plenty of stops for the views and attractions. It is open all summer and it doesn’t matter if you go morning or afternoon. Weather will determine that. It is a remarkable road and the sights are amazing taking you up to 2,500metres.
