결승골의 주인공은 박지성. 후반 25분, 이영표가 왼쪽 진영에서 길게 넘겨준 공을 골 에어리어 오른쪽에서 가슴으로 트래핑한 뒤 수비를 제치고 왼발로 차넣었다. 박지성은 결승골을 넣은 뒤 곧장 히딩크 감독에게 달려가 양팔을 활짝 벌린 채 포옹하며 꾸밈없는 세리머니를 보여줬었던 기억이 납니다.

In the final Group D match of the Korea-Japan World Cup, the Korean national team defeated Portugal 1-0 to advance to the round of 16 by ranking first in the group (2 wins and 1 draw).
The player who scored the finishing goal was Park Ji-sung. At 25 minutes in the second half, Lee trapped a long ball from the left side of the goal area from the right side to the chest, and kicked it with his left foot past the defense. After scoring the finishing goal, Park immediately ran to Hiddink, hugged him with his arms wide open, and displayed an unshackled ceremony.
