Who else but Epic Games to get the best out of Unreal Engine 3 (an engine they developed) on Xbox 360 hardware.

I remember those underground areas just looking so stunning in Gears 2, such an epic artdirection and character. Still holds up now especially the water rendering!

Gears of War 4 is stunning on Xbox X, and was just the first game sequel to Xbox one, cant wait to see how will Gears 5 look

I didnt game for about 13 years. Started gaming when the witcher 3 came out and i got a ps4. Seriously thinking about getting a xbox 1 x to play gears of war series and the mass effect trilogy. Sounds like i missed some great games.

Pooya Ansary How can you possibly know his disposable income is? He already owns a PS4, so he’s got the exclusives you mentioned on lock. But to get the best experience for those amazing multi-plats you listed; his best bet would be the Xbox One X. Not to mention the upcoming Gears of War, Halo, Forza games. If he’s looking to catch up on Gears, I’m assuming Halo as well, and no one should miss out on all that!

Anthony Tosh gears is class, great characters, great story, really good online too, it still has a world eSports championship, the problem with playstation is no online support in games, completed and shelved in 3 days is no good, it's time Sony showed that that can include online functionality in a game, it's 2018 after all, not 1996

They like money. It's a shame, mobile gaming practices in AAA gaming is absolutely awful. And battle royale is an addicting genre because of unpredictability and RNG, there's always that rush of dopamine around the corner for knowing you'd get first place. It keeps you coming back and then the microtransactions entice you further. Horrible method of profit, but effective.

minimimimaxiboy they didn’t make Fortnite because they “like money”...They made fortnite as a love project from some of the developers, producing the story mode for years, changing the overall game at one point and starting over. They released it, and it flopped, hardly sold, was laggy, and had a tiny player base. They saw how well PUBG was doing, and used their existing assets to make a Battle royale, made it free and took a risk...and wow did it pay off. So to answer their question...no, they don’t just “like money” gears of war was a love child, they poured heart and soul into it, and it wS the same with fortnite, it just so happens it took off

yeah i was amazed too at gears 3 on the xbox one x. it looks perfectly like a current gen title. heck it looks better than gears 4 in most parts.

Gears 2 looks good in 4K, but yes. 3 is a massive step up. Gears 2 at 4K looks better than a lot of current gen games

Damn the X1X is an impressive console. Worth every penny. Extremely happy with my purchase.

GraveUypo wait..what? Im not trying 2 be a dick but going from 720p,900p sometimes 1080 to 4k with high res textures, faster loading times etc etc was a huge upgrade. Especially if you consider the tiny res bump the ps4pro only offers.

i don't care. it plays the same games with the same framerate caps. it has better image quality, but even the graphics are generally the same outside of iq. i'm used to much more significant upgrades on my pcs. if this at least made all games 60fps i'd say it was totally worth it. for now, i'd say it's only really worth going for the X if you don't have the base console. otherwise it might or might not be worth it, depending on how much you fetch for your old box. you think it is, fair enough. i think it was not a very good purchase in my case, because i didn't sell my old one, i gave it away to my nephew. i could have bought a base ps4 AND a switch for the same money and i probably should have. i'd have all consoles now. but instead i have one console that plays the same games as before but with better image quality. meh

absolutely agree, i have both a ps4 pro and xbox one x and playing forza 7 on xbox one s to the x was a huge difference in visuals yet gran turismo sport looks a tiny bit better going from the base ps4 to the pro and it still has texture pop in on the tracks and vehicles, thats pretty bad for a console that is more powerfull and the game is supposedly ps4 pro enhanced?

Just got my X today and am now installing Read Dead Redemption. Added the Gears of War games to the list as well. These games are looking excellent in 4K. First time I've ever bought a console mostly due to BC.

BC is absolutely amazing, and a crucial means of preserving the artform. Shame on Sony for taxing the players with overpriced PSN-only, limited versions of PS2 classics with only a resolution bump, shame on PS Now. Xbox did it extremely well: put the disc in, wait for the download. I have two OG Xbox's, one 360 and a boat load of games for them, including the Splinter Cell collection. Installing them on the One is quick, simple and easy. And FREE.

i'm replaying all gears games in coop in 4k on my Xbox one X. Awesome!

Man these were the days... playing with my 2 brothers online on Xbox 360. Damn I miss those times 😞

I agree story wise. The New Hope Research Facility is my favorite mission. Gears 3 improved in level design, enemy variety, weapon variety and multiplayer though.

Gears of War 2 was a huge departure from Gears 1 in terms of control scheme and timing which directly (and negatively) impacted multiplayer. This game was incredibly panned for being “Cliffy B’s Original Vision” with regards to the cover system and slower motion. The furor over the jarring change from Gears 1 was inescapable back in 2008 and to this day arguably primed his departure, finally catalyzed by Judgement. The delay was similar to Rockstar’s euphoria motion in GTAIV, but incompatible with a game like Gears. Just bad design calls. Gears 3 further changed this decision but reverting it back to more closely play like Gears 1.

Gears 2 upon release was about two things: Horde match and a fantastic campaign story...one of my favorite games. Regarding Judgement, I did not actually complete the game till the other year, but once one gets used to the interface difference, Judgement is a visually amazing game that does have a good story...sadly, it was eclipsed being released only months after Gears 3.

Great video! I'd KILL for a Gears 2/3 Remaster like UE. They had such killer campaign locations I'd love to see them reimagined.

I like the dark lighting ironically, gives the gritty feel of war

I am just happy that others appreciate these games as much as I do. Gears was the first game I owned when I first got a 360.

Nope, those were the days of exclusives for xbox, plenty games still not on other platforms. Getting the X is the best way to experience those older titles (again) since emulation is still a ways off for any xbox.

TBH in some games a heavy and unrealistic AO is really cool. It also plays well into the visuals of Gears 2

I haven't played ANY of them despite owning them all now or access through Gamepass ... My time is limited and I want to play 4 and 5 for sure because of their graphics and newness ... What is needed to play before those ? I can watch a story catch up but thinking might start with Gears 3 as it seems to look good still ?

I think you should do one on Rocksteady's Batman series to show how they've evolved and brought new features. Even adding Eidos Montreal Batman game too. Nice video as usual

Can you do some sort of retrospective on the tech of killzone 2? Something about that game’s lighting, models, destruction and other things still look really impressive to this day.

The Locust City is the coolest level environment. It just looks so fucking cool as you're going through one area after another.

I'm a PC gamer but I'd buy an Xbox One X just to be able to play Gears Of War 3 online horde mode again, playing that on the Xbox 360 was the most fun I've ever had in an online multiplayer game, I must have sunk thousands of hours of game play time into that one.

Although I'm a PS4 and PC player now. I will never forget the 1st time I played Gears of War. I actually bought the GoW-360 bundle, and it was so worth it.

Gears is what got me back into gaming after being absent since Dreamcast and a few PS2 games. LOVE Xbox One X.

Great video! I am going to get an X soon. All these enhanced games make me feel it's worth the upgrade. As for Gears of War specifically, it's one of my favorite trilogies of last-gen for sure. I last went through the trio just before Gears 4 came out. Man, aside from a few aspects, I was pretty disappointed in four. I thought Judgment was great, but not as good as the main trio.

What a fucking beast of a game, i'm a PS fan but i got into Xbox thanks to this serie.

Really don’t think people understand how big gears was/is a vast amount of art lore brand new ideas taken from classics, new game modes unseen until gears it’s really crazy how much this franchise has done for the video game world

i followed gears of war since 2006 till now Gears 5 at 2019, i can say the story are awesome and their graphic getting better with series. :D in my opinion, gears 3 has the best story and gameplay so far :D

Do you use HDR for this? If I choose HDR10 on my Sony the colors get way washed out so I set it to auto HDR but need to do some major tweaking to make this game look better on my Sony 900f playing this on my Xbox One X.

Could you me tell any reason why certain Xbox One X Enhanced games are not showing up as X1XE True or appearing under my enhanced game list, yet others are? All games are on external storage.

It's a little weird to me that Gears of War 2 doesn't get a bump to 60 on backwards compatibility. Gears 2 is one of those UE3 games where there are a couple places that if you point the camera in the right direction, the game will click over from 30 to 60, suggesting that the game would benefit from more horsepower right out of the box.

As a Gear head since '07, I appreciate your attitude towards GoW: Judgment... I like to pretend that one doesn't exist.

I tried playing through this with a friend on the base Xbox One but it just kept crashing at a certain point which was frustrating.

I just picked up again for $5.00 each Gears of War 1 remastered for the Xbox One, Gears of War 2, and Gears of War 3. I also just installed them on my Xbox One X that is hooked up to my Samsung Series 7 Curved UHD 4K TV!

I bought xbox 1 x at Christmas, played through all the Gears(5 of them). 2 wasn't remastered/patched when I played it, bummer lol Most of the others were though. Good times.

The best game series in the 7th generation by far.

When i played gears of war when the xbox 360 came out damn it was the best game i ever sow.

These major tech shifts were essential to establishing the new consoles. I remember a lot of the launch stuff for Xbox360 was very underwhelming, because it largely felt like mere upscaled PS2 stuff. Left a lot of people on SDTVs severely underwhelmed.
