Copenhagen (2024 København in Danish) is the capital of Denmark. The city has 800,000 citizens and in its metropolitan area live 2 million people. Copenhagen Municipality is the central quarter of Copenhagen. Other municipalities in Copenhagen are Frederiksberg, Tårnby and Dragør. Copenhagen is built on multiple islands on at the border with southern Sweden (Malmo). The city is part of the island of Zealand and Amager and separated from Malmö in Sweden by the strait of Øresund. Between Denmark and Sweden the Øresund Bridge is located which connects Copenhagen to Malmo in Sweden by rail and road. Copenhagen is world known for the Little Mermaid Statue, the Tivoli Gardens and the Amalienborg and Christiansborg Palaces, Frederik's Church, the Zoo and many more highlights.
