Every day at midday in Copenhagen, Denmark, there is a Changing of the Guard ceremony held in the square of Amalienborg Palace, HM The Queen's Copenhagen residence. The Guard are members of Denmark's Royal Life Guard established in 1658.
What is probably lesser known is that the incoming guard leaves their barracks near Rosenborg Castle at 11:27 am and march through the streets of Copenhagen, including along Copenhagen's extensive pedestrian mall, Strøget. This video follows the guard as it marches from their barracks, through the streets of Copenhagen and to their arrival at Amalienborg Palace to take part in the Changing of the Guard ceremony at midday.
As HM The Queen was not in residence at Amalienborg Palace on Monday 18 September 2023, the Guard is the Palace Guard, one of three divisions of the Royal Life Guard. When the Monarch is in residence, the Guard is the King's Guard and, additionally, music is provided by the Royal Guard's band.
