4K CAB VIEW: True to eye view of the Flåm Railway (Flåm - Myrdal)
The GoPro can capture great images, but it will never be able to show the the true to eye view due do the extreme wideangle/fisheye lense it uses. I've always wanted to show how everything truly looks from the cab and now I'm finally able to do that.
Here is a true to eye view of the Flåm Railway going up to Myrdal. From sea level to 866m above. It's like going through three seasons in less than an hour.
The video was recorded with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with a Canon EF 1.4 lens @ F/4 ISO 1250 and 50fps.

My sister (80) & I (70) loved this trip because it was at a speed where we could see the animals & scenery. You are so fortunate to be able to see this & enjoy the views. It seems your country takes more pride & care of their country & families seem closer. We don't see the trash & the rail lines & homes seem cleaner & well taken care of. We would love to see this in person, but our health does not allow much travel so love what we can see thru your videos.
we loved this enjoyable presentation it is very beautiful , thank you

Most affordable way to visit Norway = cruise ship. Expensive independently. Leap off quick to get first train .. done it twice. But cruise nowadays ... ????
Spectacular!
Oh my - not even 5 minutes in, & these old eyes are just amazed! This camera is accurately named Blackmagic!
I love this camera! Brings a whole new perspective... 😊
WOW! This is really spectacular, RCG! It looks fabulous on my 4K TV! 👍 Can’t wait for Saturday!
I visited Norway back in 1987, but we didn't make it to the interior. We'd been touring all over Sweden then drove from Gothenburg to Oslo, where I think we spent two nights and one full day, then drove to Bergen. That drive to Bergen along the coast was quite the adventure! After less than a full day in Bergen we had to head back home, unfortunately - Bergen - Stavanger - Copehagen - Los Angeles - Sacramento. I'd definitely like to get back to Norway some day - beautiful country.
Sunday morning 🌄 early RCG journey what a treat .

I don't have 4K so a little weird to watch but I am just blown away by the beautiful country you have.

I second this opinion. I also watch in 4K on 32" screen and somehow it looks strange and gives me motion sickness. I would prefer wider angle. But still, it is beautiful :)
starting from Flam which is at a height of 2 m above sea, the train reached Berekvam in 16 minutes. it climbed 343 meters in this time. speed was slow, i think i saw a speed board of 36 kmph somewhere, but it all looks so effortless... :-)
So nice country side
Very good video!
Mmmmm...so many lilacs blooming down in Flåm. Are you able to open the windows in the cab to catch the smell of the blooms? After being so used to the GoPro, it's something to see how abruptly the climb begins just after the raspberry farm. And I am adoring this new view! At Håreina, are the goats staying where they belong now? I stopped this video and totally distracted myself onto the goat video. Wow - look at all the tour buses in Flåm last autumn! What a difference even less than a year has made.

Yup, love the new camera. I mentioned a year ago that maybe the Gopro was not right.
eu adoro ver os videos de estradas de paises e tambem as vias ferreas ver o mar os lagos e rioa e aspontes inclusivel as cidades do jntrior e ascapitais
Is this different to last weeks

This is superb footage. Excellent job. Looks great especially with all the greenery.
Hello video like
I have always assumed that high pitch sound is the wheels slipping on the tracks. ??
@mikegross6107
4 жыл бұрын
I believe it's the wheels rubbing along the sides of the rails causing more friction than normal but I may be wrong.
@stevencooper2464
3 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's the wheel flanges "singing" as they rub the against the rails in curves. They usually don''t do that on straight track.

@@stevencooper2464 Thank you Steven.
Even more dramatic. I do have a few questions about the trackside signs: Is there a difference between the various horn signs? What are the smallish rectangular signs on this line (e.g. at 7:06) which just have a number usually 130 or 150? And finally one that's more evident on the mountain pass: Some of the speed signs have a speed in the triangle and the a small +5 or +10 below, and the limit shown in the videos is the sum, so what is the difference between (say) a 10 and a 9 +10?
@RailCowGirl

1. Curve diameter in meters :) 2. allowed overspeed example 8 + 10 = 90kmh for rolling stock approved for overspeed

why are passengers and staff pixelled out from the video?
What is the focal length of the lens?

The focal length of this lens is 35mmm x 1.1 crop factor giving it a 38.5mm.

@@RailCowGirl Thanks. Of all your videos I have watched this perspective is the most pleasing to my eye, but all your videos are well worth watching.
There is an old video from 1997 I think,recorded with an analogic camera and quite poor resolution but with a similar perspective than this one. I am sure that all the herd expects you to "re visit" the Bergen line with your new camera!!!
