This makes one of us...I played about half an hour and I'm still completely lost in 4D lol. I basically can only follow it in volume view and even then not all the time...

@@Scoopta That was very similar to my experience! I almost feel like I'm cheating and not really conceptualizing things properly by using volume view. It's like I'm playing some other (regular 3D) game where I have to launch a projectile through a series of tubes. It was interesting though, and the graphics and music were really aesthetic. Maybe things will start to click more when I can spend more time with it...

Congrats on the release! I know firsthand that there's a lot that goes into making a game work in 4D, and it's nice to see that 4D games are finally becoming more popular!

is there a way to translate a 4D world in to a 2D screen? like making 4D objects look 3D while making 3D objects look 2D (while 2D and 1D objects still looking the same)?

SPOILER Yeah!! like in the video where he talks about 4D rendering, it seems like the only reason any of this was possible was because 3D rendering occasionally needs 4D vectors. How did he slice so many 5 cells in real time? how did he make all those 5D tools just for one world?? It seems truly impossible, I'm so excited for the explanation. Hoping that the devlog is as good and explanatory as I'm hoping!

I am absolutely flabbergasted that with its soundtrack and a whole 4d physics engine, the game is less than 2 GB. I've only taken introductory courses in programming, but this seems like an incredible amount of storage optimization.

This game was genuinely so much fun. It gives an intuition for 4d space that I really wasn't expecting to get from a game. Not to mention an incredible technical achievement too!

Just to add, it was a solid experience too. I didn't encounter any bugs which is such a breath of fresh air.

I'm so stoked; I immediately bought this on Steam when I saw it was available! Been playing it for a few minutes, and it's so weird to wrap my brain around 4D! But knowing how 4D works, this is the experience I've always wanted! I look forward to putting time into this game. It's just so well-polished. Well done, CodeParade. Well done.

Hell yes. I'm so glad you spent the time to make this into its full self. I've wanted a game that lets you get a feel for four spatial dimensions, ever since Meigakure was teased in 2010. And this idea is perfect, there's no genre that's as straightforwardly about "understanding the geometry" as a minigolf game.

Well, maybe billiards, although slopes would probably be needed.

This is by far the most intuitive way of understanding 4D space that I've come across. And I've watched just about every video about 4D and tried every application I could get my hands on. 4D golf just makes it so easy! I felt I was getting a good sense of how to find the ball within five minutes of playing. I actually didn't think this was possible. Great job!

Just got to the credits, the game is amazing! Just a word of caution, before you play the beyond levels, set your graphics to wireframes only. The triangle count increases dramatically in that section.

i feel like ive been struggling more with the golf part than the 4d part

Wow, this has surpassed expectations! Thanks codeparade. I just hit the Beyond level set at 1am here and my brain is way too melted to deal with this, hah.

yep just as I expected: this game is very fun and easy. The hardest part about 4D golf, for me, is the 2D golf aspect. I cannot for the life of me hit shots with the correct strength.

Have you tried changing the putting setting?

I started out with a bit of trouble because the isoclinic compass wasn't explained; I assumed it was stereographic, and while I knew something was wrong, I still couldn't quite tell how it worked. Great job though! Waiting a bit to introduce the colored ghost projections was good I think, and once I turned that on I was able to navigate through four dimensions really well!

It's 20€ (dollar price is probably the same) for anyone curious Pricing a game like this that high especially just after the spring sale is a little ballsy

Was following the development from the first video. Didn't expect it to be a 20 euro game. The author is free to price his game however he sees fit, of course, but to me the price feels very steep - I'll be waiting for sale.

I'm reminded of a morally grey character I wrote who made VR goggles that made you capable of percieving four dimensions at once while you wore them.

Congratulations! I was watching someone play and it looks awesome. When the energy being talked about the person from two time dimensions, I thought "Hmm must be me." I would also suggest shading and highlights for the verticality in volume view

Hyperbolica was before I subbed so it felt like a project that was already mostly done, but this one I've followed through since the start (or at least, since youtube recommended it to me and then I caught up on what was uploaded so far), it's exciting to see it complete! This game is perfect. Really great level design, and the level editor just makes it complete. I'm having a hard time understanding 4D still, but I've only just made it to the Mezzanine levels. I would highly recommend this game to anyone.

There were a lot of 4D shapes and objects that I wanted to display but they don't naturally fit into any of the themed worlds. So making a museum seemed like a good place to show them off.

After putting in about 9 hours, it's surprisingly intuitive. I kind of wished I could visualize the maps better, but I'm instead just able to intuit how my view will change after a rotation.
