496 Cubic Inch Monster Big Block Engine Build

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Monster sized 8.1 Big Block is back together where hopefully it can make more power than before! I'd love to make 1,000 horsepower on the stock rotating assembly, and as far as I know, nobody has pushed a stock bottom end 8.1 this far yet, so we are in unknown territory. As they say, there is only one way to find out, so stay tuned to see if the 8.1 will hold up or let go!

I just happened to pause the vid and came back to look and see the hone. You definitely want to invest in a rigid hone like a Lisle or similar. Get a shelf full of pig mats and a million gallons of spray lube. When you think you're making a mess, that's the right amount. Rigid hones are good for taking out uneven wear.

When assembling an engine you should protect the crank from the rod bolts by using a couple of short pieces of 3/8" fuel hose to cover the rod bolts so you don't drag it across the rod journals, I've seen this happen before. left marks that had to be dressed down before it could be assembled

the only problem with the 8.1 is lack of aftermarket support if a carburetor intake manifold was made for this engine like a dual plane the only intake aftermarket for this engine is from that little company 🫣 to bad can’t buy a pair of Elderbrook cylinder heads for this engine not even airflow research heads nor even Brox cylinder heads 😕 and that’s why nobody builds these engines for high power builds
