Robert Kastoun, a strength coach, embarked on an ambitious eight-year project to build his dream '49 Chevrolet pick-up truck. Starting with a rusted chassis, he faced numerous challenges and delays, but his dedication and the support of expert builders transformed it into a showstopper. His journey included learning various car-building skills, such as metal fabrication, mechanics, and electrical work. The project was significantly extended beyond his initial one-year, $70,000 budget, but the truck was completed just in time for his 46th birthday. With contributions from skilled craftsmen at Image Conversions and Blackneedle Automotive Upholstery, the truck debuted successfully at the Sydney Hot Rod & Custom Show, winning multiple awards. Supported throughout by his wife, Victoria, Rob's passion for car-building has only grown, and he now plans to build another Chevrolet truck as a family project.
